really? every single challenge ends in a tie that can only be resolved after a commercial break? really?

I can only think that it's either completely staged or edited with an extremely heavy hand... the ridiculousness of this show is starting to grate on me. if there were anything else on on tuesday nights, I'd delete my season pass gladly.

Hell's Kitchen is ok but it's way too over-produced and obviously fake. The show needs less editing and less stupid fucking sound effects and OTT music cues.

It's more of a game show for people that can't cook... I mean one of the people worked at waffle house.

Oh, and I hate how after every commercial break they summarize what already happen, then show what's going to happen before the next commercial. If you cut that out the show's half the length.

and the people who work at waffle house are better than most of the other contestants.

Gordon Ramsay is such a tool on that show, I have no idea why people enjoy watching him belittle everyone.

I wish that ex-marine contestant that confronted him a few seasons back actually beat his ass. That is something the guy desperately needs.

That's part of the allure of HK. 99.9999% of those who watch cooking shows know they could never cut it on Top Chef. On HK there are plenty who think 'I could could cook better than those schmucks.' This season is weak though. It'll likely come down to Ed and Jay, who are the strongest chefs by far, though that may not be saying much.

I watch HK for the entertainment value despite the formulaic aspect. Since I've seen every episode of Iron Chef ever made it gets me through my cooking show jones until Top Chef on Wednesdays.

Hell's Kitchen has always been edited like this, but this season is definitely more over the top than the past ones. This show is a must DVR for me, so I can FF through all the cliffhangers and commercials.

Hell's Kitchen would be better if someone took Gordon Ramsey's face/hand and pressed it against a hot stove burner. Yeah, I know it's a character but man he needs to take a Valium.

it's terribly edited. far too many cuts, far too many sound effects, and only pleasing to people with terribly short attention spans.

Ever been to a military boot camp?

That guy was one of the biggest jerks ever on HK. Being a former Marine he should have realized that Ramsay is nothing more than a cooking drill sergeant. If anyone should have recognized the parallel it's that guy. Instead he let his cockiness and ego get the better of him.

Jumped the shark ages ago. First season was okay, after than it just became Ramsey getting more and more obnoxious.

Sooo... does the show still revolve around Gordon Ramsey swearing at numbskull cooks who can't make a decent Risotto?

Chopped is a much better show... the contestants on it can actually cook.

I really wonder if it's Ramsey or the editors, because he never comes off that bad on his UK shows.

Those are the edits - they are outrageous and stupid parts, you see the cooks make stupid comments or expressions. That's what the show is about!

One of the more entertaining episodes each season is the blind palate test, which airs next week. With the way most of them smoke it's a wonder they can identify any ingredients at all.

Agreed, and it's the same with the US version of Kitchen Nightmares (to a lesser degree). The UK version of Kitchen Nightmares is awesome though. No intentionally-added drama, no silly sound effects, no lame dramatic voiceovers.

All that being said, I still watch the US versions.

The thing that aggravates me about this show is why the hell does Ramsay even bother telling the teams to pick who they want to go home? He just sends whoever the hell he wants to home anyway. Stupid.

This fake drama-filled US version is garbage, if i hear that stupid sound effect thats supposed to create drama one more time I think I'm stab my own ears. Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares is far superior. I also still watch it anyway. :)

LOL, everyone touched on my points already, they ALL SMOKE! How can you taste anything like that? Sheesh.

Everyone's already beat these dead horses but I'd figure I'd chime in..

/checks guide to see if Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares or F Word is on BBC America

lol I don't even know if that guy was "ex-marines." A lot of people say stupid shit just to be "out there" on the show.

Either way, Ramsay is just giving them what he got when he went to a chef school in Paris.

If he referred to himself as an ex-marine or former marine then the closest he came to actually being a marine was getting kicked out of boot camp. Once a marine always a marine.

Ramsay is a primadonna whiny woman, it's irritating. And it has to be staged, half of the food these chefs are cooking are raw. How the fck do you try to serve raw chicken or pork? Fake.
