some rumors out there that they are canning anyone who refused to relocate to the west coast as well, as IIRC the AMA person didn't want to move to CA

a nice summation

reddit employee fired (speculation is she resisted the desire of reddit management to commercialize AMA's)

iama and other subreddits close their doors to public in protest (tension has been building for a while between new management + the community top dogs)

reddit founder makes fun of the situation piss everyone off more

reddit founder start to backpedal, says he needs the closed subreddits back online blah blah typical pr shit

screens leaked of reddit admins "abusing" their power, forcibly forcing subreddits open

iama reopens, refuses to work with reddit in the future

ex reddit employee posts ama where he says that he was fired for having leukemia and unable to work. among other shit.

his account was deleted shortly after and all comments deleted. people now in more of a frenzy.

Yeah heard that too. Pretty stupid to force someone to move for an INTERNET company. Sounds like they're turning into a typical megacorp, which is kinda ironic as that goes against the philosophy of most people there.

If Reddit is going to be managed like this I imagine it will start to go downhill. Since they're trying to commercialize it more I can see them going the way of Google, where they just keep changing shit for the sake of change and pissing people off.

You post on a computer forum...... And you're bashing neckbeards?

Neck beards;
- do not admit they are wrong, ever
- are self proclaimed experts, on everything
- have plenty of double standards
- solution problems with unfeasible options (i.e. have cancer? Well, stop having cancer, duh!)
- when the unfeasible options are challenged, the challenger is labeled an idiot, sub human and someone who wants things done for them

ATOT has some pretty decent people. Pragmatic folks that are in touch with reality.

And, relatively honest.

Now, they are neck beards on ATOT, but no one is delusional about who they are and how they act (except the neck beard of course). They get called out on their bullshit.

Not on reddit though.

So, ATOT is not reddit. Ergo, not a cesspool of angry self loathing "Nice Guys".

Always amazes me whenever anyone is proud to promote a stereotype...

Why do all these moderators work for free enriching the 1% who are getting the milk for free while they work day and night keeping the site up.

Millennials make no sense, why work for free to make the owners millionaires?

It's not that all neck beards are losers, it's just that most losers are neck beards.

Am I doing that right? I have trouble pretending I am not a raging racist a logical observer by hiding behind presenting 'as a matter of fact' statements.

Enjoy it, asshole kind sir.

EDIT: Also, most of what I described is due to personality flaws. And, a neck beard doesn't always have a neck beard or is not always a fat bloated piece of garbage. The examples in that pic were all physical. But, go fuck yourself thanks nonetheless.

Stereotypes work because everything in this world can be classified and put into specific slots, based on measurements and behaviors. count a lot of them and run statistical models and you will get certain traits associated with certain characteristics.

I'd say that those words fit the description of the typical American Male.

Though to be fair, the reddit community is very large and diverse and you'll have your whiny neckbeards dwelling in certain areas, but you also have some very helpful reddit communities. And as with anything that is broad and diverse, you'll have to pick through some of the bullshit from time to time.

Stereotypes didn't just magically fuckin appear. If a certain group of people do something for a certain length of time then it becomes a stereotype. Does it classify each specific individual in that group? No. But it will classify a good majority of them.

Stereotypes wouldn't exist if there wasn't some level of truth to them.

1. Excellent summary.

2. Yes, one of the reasons I like ATOT is because people are generally decent here. Reddit is kind of the wild west of online relationships & behavior in most subreddits. Sure they have mods, but there are some pretty bitter, mean people who are allowed to keep posting there, which can make for an unpleasant community. Granted, there are plenty of cool people & a ton of good information, but to me, a lot of it feels disjointed. I like the community feel here a lot more.

Yeah, the downvote button on Reddit is basically the "I'm a neckbeard with a differing opinion" button.

I think that I'm going to quit Reddit as well, but more because of the shitty userbase instead of the shitty moderators.

Almost 193k signed the Change.org petition.

Not sure if it'll do anything though. Also, lol at this being blamed on gamergate. :D
