Oh, impotent protest. They should also do an online petition. That'll certainly get more results than blockading reddit's money.

Or, make the announcement and turn off comments/posts.

Freeze the sub, but make sure the message of why is visible. As per OP's comments, no one really knew why and what was going on.

Maybe if you stopped thinking about anal sex all the time, you could formulate an actual and effective thought and idea. Give it a shot, but start small and once you feel comfortable with NOT being and emotional temperamental brat with butt sex on his mind, apply it to bigger things.

Prove to us you aren't some ass sick freak who can't control his neck beard rage.

Holy shit you're a child; stupid too. No point in having much of any discussion with you. If you aren't dumb as a brick, you do a good job playing it online :^D

This coming from someone who brings up sodomy on a conversation that has nothing to do with sodomy and supports neck beard hissy fits.

On the "no point in having much of any discussion with you" - again, sorry I do not share the same interests in sodomy as you do.

reddit expanded so much that it's not just neck beards anymore.

You're confusing this with gamergate or something.

It is primarily neck beards.

Reddit is also the site that threw a shit fit when a dude who posts pictures of under aged girls was fired due to Gawker outting him.

http://gawker.com/5950981/unmasking-reddits-violentacrez-the-biggest-troll-on-the-web

Reddit management took the jailbait sub down, but the end users were outraged that someone who exploited children was treated this way (which is why Gawker was banned from being linked and still is on some subs).

So, you are right, it is much more than neck beards; it's pedophiles, racists, sexists, etc.

Reddit is an awful community that pretends it is good. They are the classic case of the "Nice Guy".

Reddit is imploding after the firing of admin Victoria Taylor, one of the main people behind the popular Q&A subreddit r/IAmA where notable figures and celebrities answer questions directly from redditors. It is unconfirmed but many are suggesting she was fired over an AMA (ask me anything) that occurred yesterday with Jesse Jackson that didn't go so smoothly, to say the least.

Social Justice Warrior (SJW) has a core belief that "All animals are created equal, but some animals are more equal..."

Obviously, its not politically correct to allow any of the more equal animals to get criticized...

Jessie Jackson got criticized?

Someone has to pay!

Jesse Jackson's entire MO is stirring up shit that he can twist for his own personal gains. Joseph Jett, who's a prominent African-American Wall St. businessman, calls him a "Negro Priest King" and accuses him and Rev. Al of keeping blacks in a slave like mindset.

from what I gleaned, they're an active part in the negative feedback loop (based around both the "acting white" attitude and anti-black racism) that keeps blacks stuck in the post-segregation situation.

Still, I don't think that thread was the cause of this, because nothing bad really happened from what I read.
Someone launched the typical expected attack against this guy, and he answered with an answer that seemed aimed at another question, nothing in it made sense, effectively shutting down any trouble before it started.
So nothing bad happened in the end, it was just botched.
I don't see why they would fire someone about one botched AmA.

Still, the lack of communication makes a moderator strike reasonable, since it appears that this is just the newest grievance of many. Consider that they work for free so the threshold is lower when you have nothing to lose.

iama is reddit's moneymaker. I would hardly call it 'impotent'. I could see Ellen Pao getting fired over this.

That quote is in response to r/science's simple text response, but leaving their content open. eg impotent protest.

Anyone can look at the Jessie Jackson AMA in Google's webcache...

I agree that, to me, it doesn't come across as particularly odious.

Still, I don't think I've ever seen Rachel Maddow ask Jessie about his illegitimate children, his practice of shaking down corporations, or his rush to judgement concerning the Duke lacrosse rape scandal...

I really need to stop wasting time by going to that site. The moderation system they have there sucks... it seems like everyone thinks that the downvote button is supposed to be used every time you disagree with someone's opinion. Dare to disagree with the particular groupthink ideology of a particular subreddit? Watch your post or comment get moderated into oblivion.

Heh... come to think of it, I'd love to see what would happen if they tried a similar moderation system in the Politics & News forum. I bet that most of the content would disappear in a wave of partisan troll moderation flamewars🙂

The discussion there generally sucks, but it's a good aggregator of content. Comments are worth a quick look, but I don't get too wrapped up in them.

lol this is the person that supposedly fired Victoria:

Look through comments and the downvotes are insane, I've never seen that many downvotes on single comments before. That's hilarious. I don't know if people are going in and downvoting everything or what.

They did reopen IAMA though.

Seems most of the subs are reopening. Talk about slacktivism, if you really want to take the pitchforks and torches out make it count and shut that stuff down for weeks! 😛

What did you expect, the site is filled with ADD teenagers with a 15 minute attention spans. It's time to go onto the next thing to whine about.

Read between the lines. JJ's people obviously paid to be handled with no surprises and in a positive light, then... SURPRISE!

CEO/corporation took money for this, client's expectations were betrayed, client threatened them as he is known to do, thus, heads had to roll.

That said, I don't understand reddit. Every time someone links me there I see people's disjointed replies about other posts or images I can't see. When I click around to find them it always seems like they are gone or something because I just find more poorly formatted pages of text and more disjointed replies. The top posts sometimes act like they are sharing a link or an image that I just can't find after the fact. It may as well be a big chat room that can only be experienced live.

you have to click on the title. That opens the link.
It wasn't clear to me either at first.

Also links are funky as you can link discussions, subthreads, single comments and all sorts of stuff.

It's certainly less intuitive than normal image boards or forums but that format has its advantages.
