Tough one. False positives aren't fun at all, but in some extreme cases it's better than not investigating when a red flag is triped somewhere.

Got called into the principal's office in 8th grade - my dad, 2 of my teachers and the principal were waiting for me when I got there. My honors english teacher was checking my bibliography for a paper I did on hitler a few days before, and she asked me in class where I got one of the books I used for research. I told her the public library...turns out the teacher called the library and asked if they had that book, and they said they didn't, so I was being accused of "plagiarism" and lying and would be facing suspension and an F in the class. It was a nice feeling when I walked to my locker, got the book in question and handed it to the principal.

Except when it's your vindictive ex that does it. Three times. Even after the obvious solution was presented.

In 5th grade someone pulled the fire alarm while I happened to be out of the classroom using the bathroom. The door through which my class exited in case of fire alarms was closer to the bathroom than my class and I managed to get outside before the rest of my class (although not before everyone else - there were others outside by the time I got there). Anyway, my teacher must have seen me out there before the rest of the class and/or known I was out of the classroom while the fire alarm was pulled. It was snowing that day and you could clearly see blue ink (the stuff they coat the fire alarm with so they can tell who pulled the fire alarm) on the ground in the area where everyone was. I was wearing a blue hoodie that day and had my hands in my pouch because it was cold. So my teacher comes up and barks "Show me your hands now!" Of course, my clean hands quickly cleared my name, but not before a dozen or so other kids heard her yelling.

Slightly worse, I have no idea what my ex told her mom I did to her but I believe it went something along the lines of rape. So my mom gets home from Back to School night and immediately starts screaming at me like she has never screamed at me before. Something about she talking to my ex's mom and her saying that what I did to my ex wasn't her fault (Note: I didn't do anything to my ex, I dumped her because she started smoking/drinking/hanging out with a bad crowd). My mother was furious for the next 30 minutes or so but I think my genuine lack of understanding of what was going on convinced her that I did not do whatever had been insinuated.

Killing my neighbor's dog. I, along with his neighbors, complained to him many times about his dog barking in the middle of the night, but I would never poison an animal.

You know, I would be pissed at my parents if someone accused me of something like this and they didn't have at least enough faith in me to take it with a big grain of salt until checking the facts.

In one of my college classes I was about to take the final exam. The prof was handing out the exams and when I got mine I started to thumb through it to get a feel for the material it covered. The prof saw me doing this and thought I was looking through my notes (he was maybe 6 feet away from me).

So in the middle of the quiet classroom he starts screaming at me "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!!" and promptly comes over and picks up my "notes" as evidence. He started for the front of the classroom with me right on his tail objecting the whole time, and we made it about 10 steps before he realized that the only thing he was holding was my blank test.

So after screaming at me in front of the entire class he just says "Oh, here." and gives me my test back without even apologizing.

no prob. cliffs details:

- 1999 is the year
- myself and roommate got taken to small claims court by our landlord for "breaking the lease"
- we didn't break the lease, he said we could leave when school was done and he would rent the place out for the summer
- he found "damages" at the property, ie. oil stain on driveway, scratched wooden floors (original 1954 floors), broken window - so he decided he wanted to take us to court
- judge didn't believe my testimony that the landlord gave us verbal permission to leave, said that my testimony sounded "fabricated".

anyway they ended up losing the case because their lies were bigger and more apparent, and we had photographic evidence to prove them. i had told the guy not to take us to court because he would lose. he didn't listen, and he lost.

Nicely done! :)

This is a great thread.

I was accused of swearing and saying all sorts of nasty words by the mother of some young 9 year old on my YMCA soccer team.
I've had a pretty tame life. No epic tales :/

I had a teacher in high school accuse me of plagiarizing my friend's essay for World History. The truth is that he copied off me earlier in the day and the teacher liked him because he participated more. I still joke about it with my friend today.

One of my old neighbors, who I have probably seen but have never acknowledged, accused me of breaking his car window. Now, how he even came to this conclusion is beyond me because I never went out in my neighborhood past the age of 11. Too much stupid shit going on around me and I didn't want to get caught up in any of it. I always went out with friends outside of the area. Honestly I was more surprised that the guy could even give an accurate description of me, much less know where I lived.

So apparently this guy was going door to door bitching about his car door and along the way said "maybe it was Sumguy, damn teenagers!" He did this until he came upon the one of the few people in the area who knows me. He immediately told the guy he had no idea what he was talking about, since I "mostly kept to myself and had way too much sense to throw a brick through the window of a guy who lives three houses down the fucking road". The biggest point though was that I had gone fishing for the weekend with some buddies.

Never found out who the guy was, but apparently my neighbor verbally owned him enough that he left a note apologizing for his accusations under my, as well as the rest of the blocks, door.

Other than that, there was this kid named Nick in my elementary school. I forget why, but he pushed me while I was standing in line at the water fountain behind a girl. I ran into her with enough force to hurt her, and told her I was sorry. Of course I tried to punch that kid but he was already on his way to a teacher...who believed his whole story. He said I pushed her because I wanted cold water and she was taking too long (the water used to get warm quick). I don't recall what happened after that, but I do know that my principal knew Nick liked to bullshit a lot so I didn't get into trouble.

Edit for clarity: I mean that we never found out who broke the window. I found out who the neighbor was obviously.

In 6th grade I was rounding a corner and the old ass secretary was flying down the hall and slammed into me. Even at 11 years old, i was easily 5 inches taller and 50lb's heavier than this old hag. So anyway, she goes flying down to the ground and starts screaming and crying. A couple teachers come out and ask what happend and she manages to yell that "he (myself) was running through the halls and crashed into me". I don't think i have ever been that stunned in my life, since she was the one speeding down the halls. The woman broke her hip and wrist, and was in the hospital forever. Since it was a catholic school, we would 'pray' for her every day durring announcements, which led to constant ball-busting from my friends.

So after all that crap, the daughter of this woman happend to teach 8th grade and she came down to my classroom to have me write an apology letter. To this day, writing that letter is one of my biggest regrets. I should have told her to screw off and to tell her mom to stop sprinting through the school.

I got accused of cheating on an essay test in 8th grade English class. The teacher (who I hated) talked to a classmate and me because apparently we wrote almost exactly the same essay. Weird.

Cliffs for mine, which I am too lazy to type:

-me and friend hanging out in his garage
-we see girl fall down on her scooter across the street
-we ask if she is okay, but she just gets up and leaves
-later...
-angry dad comes up in big SUV with his daughter
-she shows this giant bruise on her shoulder
-she says that we shot her! WTF!

Anyways I just told him to F off (not those words) and that we saw her fall. He stayed for awhile and kept on trying to blame us until I pulled the guilt trip out and got the girl to admit that she fell. It was something like "You will have to stop protecting your daughter soon. She is growing up fast and very soon she will leave you for the real world. If you keep on protecting her there is no way she will be prepared... etc"

Man, I suck at internet storytelling.
