Not just a piece of hardware dying guys - what are some of the things that have seriously affected your whole lives?

I haven't lost people who were super-close to me, or else that would probably be the worst, but so far the worst thing in my life has been being diagnosed with rhuematoid arthritis @ 17 yrs old. It definitely can make day-to-day life challenging sometimes. So, what about you all?
 
my brother and I got into a fight, and when I turned around to walk away he thought I was going inside to get a weapon. He had a knife in his pocket and pulled it on me. I still have the shirt with the slash in the back where he used it on me as I was walking away

Well, there are things to me that, at the time, were the worst thing ever: however, my outlook on life is generally to try to look upon the best, and make the most out of your situation.

My list, if I had to come up with one (I'm not sure which earns highest ranks):

My parents divorce (hit me very hard; led me to temporarily break up with the love of my life, date someone else, and leave for Europe for months).

Coming down with Diabetes at the age of 15.

Both of these events have changed who I am drastically; however, I believe the change has been for the better, so it's hard for me to say they are the "worst" things that have happened to me.

I've lost some family members who were important and close to me. I'm also currently in a struggle with money. I'm not exactly sure how I'll continue to pay for school actually
 
My rich grandfather died of old age on the fourth of july two years ago, being more than 90 years old. I cried when my grandmother died when I was 8 and I cried when my grandfather died. He was beloved by all and was surrounded by family and friends everyday throughout the latter years of his life.

Well, now we see where your name comes from. Why was it nessecary to mention that he was rich?
 
I think I have it pretty easy.. my dad had a manic episode (he's bipolar) in 1997 and that caused major turmoil in my life.. And I have severe depression so every time I'm depressed that day automatically becomes the worst day of my life. But other than that I'm fine.
 
i have it fairly easy i guess. not much happening here. maybe getting caught shoplifting or something. near death experience on high way. petting a dog, walking away, and seconds later, hearing a car screech and a dog yelp. that sucked.
 
I guess having to be operated on my balls(yes those down below) after an accident to save my fertility...

 
i got cancer.. colon cancer, got it resected, got chemotherapy (yeaccchh), so far so good, but you never know..
it's definitely changed my life
