Be honest now. I once trashed a customer's tranny accidentally by knocking the gear selector in reverse while driving. No reverse after that. I didn't fess up(was 17 at the time). I think the shop bit it but I'm not too sure. Still feel terrible about that.

Also clipped a car mirror with my truck's mirror going about 70k/h in Banff. My mirror simply folded inward. Theirs didin't.:Q Drove away.

oh, and if you put a car in reverse while driving, at least in an automatic, the tranny will just slip until you start moving backwards. It's designed to protect itself from stupid sh!t like PEOPLE SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS OTHER THAN N AND D WHILE DRIVING!

The one time I ever fvcked up someone elses car, I tapped them in a parking lot during a tight multi-point turn smearing some of my paint on their bumper. I left them a note and offered to pay to have the bumper repainted. They were so pleased with my honesty that they let me go.

Karma is a b!tch man....

Unfortanetely I think they left that function out of this specific econo-box heap because when it went into reverse it clank. I assure you there was no reverse after that mishap.

Define 'get away with it.'

I slammed the augur on my BIL's grain cart into the augur on my husband's combine. We paid for the repairs, told the BIL, but no worse consequences came of it. Bought our own grain card for the next harvest. :D

Yeah, that's the problem. If you look at it as 'getting away with it,' you have a serious integrity problem...

I cannot really think of any accidental damage I have done to someone elses property.
When I damage things it's usually not accidental.

Listen. Sometimes you're broke. Sometimes your drunk. Sometimes to fess up would cost you certain things you really can't afford to lose at the moment. These incidents happened in my youth. Plain and simple. Some people and their moral judging upon another gets pretty old sometimes. If you have a story to share, please do, otherwise leave it alone.

when i was learning to drive in my teens, my Dad let me drive to hockey one night.

when the game was over, we left the arena and got into the van. i put it in reverse and backed up, and slammed into another car pretty hard.

my Dad looked around the parking lot pretty quickly, and said, "get the hell out of here." so i did.

oops

That's why insurance rates for males under age 26 are the highest. :cookie: for getting away with it.

So everyone endorsing this hit and run activity will be happy when someone hit and runs their parked car one day, because that other person got away with it?
