Close, but no cigar. The correct answer is "MotionMan's Mother-In-Law".

Many months ago, I gave her a computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse, set it up, set her up with e-mail, set up her DSL service and have shown her how to use it all many times.

Last night she calls me from her house (where the computer is located) while I am standing on a baseball field in the middle of little league closing ceremonies and she asks me to use my iPhone to find the address of a restaurant because she cannot remember how to use "the Google".

Oy.

You're old, it's expected of you.

And, as my son reminded me this weekend, they got it right on the Simpsons - "Call this an unfair generalization if you must, but old people are no good at everything. ..."

Ummm.....me? I forsake modern cell phones in favor of one that "just makes calls".

...although, maybe "cheap" is more accurate than "luddite" as I don't care to pay an extra $15+ for data every month.

that's not Luddite. You can either pick

1. cheap
2. poor
3. frugal
4. thrifty

if the iphone and startac was both the same price, you would take the iphone yes? A luddite would destroy the iphone.

I call it keeping things simple.

I much prefer a simple phone to the modern smart phone. Dont even bother sending me a text, because I am not going to reply.

Technology moves so fast, I dont see a point in trying to keep up.

The technology I want is not available yet. Like being able to take a tablet out on a camping trip, film, edit and upload the video to youtube. Some of the tablet readers dont even have a usb slot in them.

Also, I dont see spending $400+ on a tablet so I can browse the net from my couch when I can use my PC.

Let prices come down so that stuff is more affordable, and we will go from there,

And that's why you joined a tech forum?

Human? Srsly, everyone's gonna reach that age. Yes, even you.

From childhood to present....

haha, dumb old people who can't figure out their VCR

haha, dumb old people who can't figure out a computer

haha, dumb old people who can't figure out their remote control

haha, dumb old people who can't figure out how to use an ATM

haha, dumb old people who can't use the internet

haha, dumb old people who can't figure out their home theatre system

haha, dumb old people who can't use the stereo or navigation system in their new car

haha, dumb old people who can't figure out how to use their digital camera

So on and so forth. Now, I've reached "WTF....why would anyone need all this shit on their cell phone? Its a phone, you make calls." (e.g. smart phones). IOW, I'm fast approaching "dumb old people" status.
