I think it's an ideology, one of those ones where someone who embodies the ideology is a "something"-ist .
A smallscale example would be people who foresake the modern cell phone for something that just places calls- but stronger than the person just calling the average mod. phone 'frilly' or somethign like that

Ummm.....me? I forsake modern cell phones in favor of one that "just makes calls".

...although, maybe "cheap" is more accurate than "luddite" as I don't care to pay an extra $15+ for data every month.

People like this usually need to feel in control and the smartest person in the room. Tech takes them out of their comfort zone and exposes them to a situation where they don't feel in control anymore.

Hence, they get a disdain for technology.

I call it keeping things simple.

I much prefer a simple phone to the modern smart phone. Dont even bother sending me a text, because I am not going to reply.

Technology moves so fast, I dont see a point in trying to keep up.

The technology I want is not available yet. Like being able to take a tablet out on a camping trip, film, edit and upload the video to youtube. Some of the tablet readers dont even have a usb slot in them.

Also, I dont see spending $400+ on a tablet so I can browse the net from my couch when I can use my PC.

Let prices come down so that stuff is more affordable, and we will go from there,
