Whats the rule for college dorm laundromats.

I take them out and dump them on a table in a nice pile. People should either stay with their clothes (How do they trust that people aren't going to do something while they're gone?), or get back down there a few minutes early so they can take them out on time.

ok, so i go into the laundromat, there's only like 6 or 7 washing machines... and they're all taken up but they're all done the cycle! why do people not get their crap on time, i can't wait around because i got an eagles game to watch.

so do you wait?
or do you take out the persons clothes and throw them in the dryer?

You DEFINITELY do NOT take out the person's clothes. That has happened to me a couple times..(and I was only a couple minutes late!). Wouldn't it piss you off if you come down to the laundry room to see your clothes not where they were supposed to be...and doesn't the thought of someone (possibly gross) touching your clothes make you wanna puke?

Bleh....makes me so angry. >__<

if the person is irresponsible enough to leave there cloths in the washer/dryer hours after the cycle is over, wouldnt it piss YOU off if there are no open machines. i just take the person's cloths out and usally after my laundry is done, there cloths are still there

Hey, here at cornell, we always left our baskets on top of the machines we were using, so if we were late getting back to our laundry, the other person would just put the stuff back in the basket... not that bad an idea... not always practiced, but better than other things. If there wasnt a basket, we always just stuck the stuff on the machine or on a nearby table.... no biggie, dont see what people's problems were.
AND our laundry rooms were always open, so i did laundry at like 7AM on monday, always machines open.
just my $.02

I'd say, give them 20 minutes. Stuff happens, you're not always there right on time, but if it's been more than 20, you gotta accept that other people need the machines.

The rule is, if the wash finishes, you can take their clothes out and put it on top of the washer (make sure none of it falls on the ground). Same rule applies for dryers.

At least, that's how it is at my uni.

if the machine is done take teh other persons crap out and put it on top and put yours in. thats what everyone at my school does. and I do it also

it's rare to be full at my school

if it is, just take 'em out, put them in the dryer, and leave a note on the washing machine

Do NOT put them in the dryer for them. Some things are not dryer safe.

1) Wash your clothes when no one else washes them

2) If it's a huge problem go talk to the Staff about posting up rules for the laundry room.

We were only able to wash our clothes from 8am-10pm. Someone petitioned to get them open 24/7 and they did. Washing clothes at 3am, what fun.

I just throw the clothes somewhere (wet or dry) and throw my own in. Our floor has a 15 minute rule...you got 15 extra minutes to get your stuff out. But if I walk in and there's clothes in there, they are coming out. I am always there 1 or 2 minutes before my load is done...it's not THAT hard to show a little respect for the people you gotta live with for a year.

rule is if the cycle is done (dryer or waster) you're taking it out and putting it on the side.. if it's a washer, you put it on the side.. put your stuff in.. then put their stuff back on top while your cycle is going

If you want to use a specific washer, just set the clothes on top of the washer, and go about your business. Same goes for the dryer.

There's always some girls leaving machines full of underwear and bras in my dorm. They'll leave them in there for hours so you have to take them out. I would have that they would take a little more care so they didn't have to have some stranger digging through their underwear.
