Nate: that sunfire can only do 108MPH before you hit the fuel cutoff limiter :)

Street/strip cars can be fun to drive, and having a car with a high top speed doesn't mean you have to be going a high speed to have fun. Sometimes the feel of the engine loping along at 70MPH and knowing that if you need to kick it upto 80 to get by a trucker you can do it while being pushed back in your seat, or flying up an incline while traffic cannot (or in many cases will not because they're all flatlanders) keep up thier speed.

I've driven a truck with 460Lb/ft of torque available, it doesn't mean I have to call on all that torque to get a warm fuzzy :D

Why do I need a car that can do that fast? To get across the state of South Dakota in under 3 hours. Duh! ;)

Seriously though, about 300 miles of 1-90 running across South Dakota is the most boring stretch of highway in the nation...well maybe except Nebraska. The speed limit is 75, but a lot of traffic does 85+ on it. I've pegged the monte carlo out at 110 on it before. Can't wait to see what an S4 will do on it ;)

Speeders are job security for me so have at it. We like nothing more than a real good "pin in" auto wreck. Jaws of life and all that. I really like it when youe knees are slammed into the dash and both your femurs break in half and pop out your thighs. Bitchin!

i got my dodge spirit at 118mph before the limiter cut my engine off for a few seconds then turn back on under 110mph..scared the sh*t out of me at 1st...thought i blew the engine... the v6 3.0 mitsu in there is a really powerful engine.. i bet with no limiter and maybe better gearing i can get my 'boxy' 'old' spirit 3.0 to 140mph before aerodynamics come into play..... of course i didn't attempt this til i installed Z rated tires on 16" shelby rims along with a completely new suspesnion consisting of eibach performance springs/kyb shocks amd urethane bushing all around(thing handles better then a neon ACR now!!!)

also this old baby is a 92, well paid off, cost 80bux a month for insurance in philly(i'm only 20 by the way) and can beat almost any of the new sedans on the market today... for 3000bux about 3 years ago it was money well spend and now have over 170k on the odemeter

RobCom, I got my parents 93 Spirit 3.0 liter up to 118mph as well a few years ago, but I did it on 195/14's, that speed limiter is scary. Those cars really were quick as hell, but they couldn't handle at all. I'd kill to get an R/T, 220hp, 140mph top speed:)

Don't kid yourself with the autobahn.

I was in Germany last year and couldn't wait to go fast on the autobahn. I had a 3-series BMW rented.

Well, there was only one place I was able to get over 100 MPH, the rest of the time the road was just too crowded. Also, many places on the autobahn do have speed limits. I was surprised about that.

Of course, 85-90 MPH was no big deal there.

The speed limit is generally way too low here in the states. Although, most people don't really know how to drive here(slow vehicles to the right!).
