What's the point of getting drunk?

I use alcohol to self-medicate for depression and anxiety disorders. It's completely wrong, I know, but I do it anyway.

when you're lost and depressed...those are the times you should contemplate, rethink what you need to do, and focus...not get yourself wasted and drown your mind in nothingness.

I'm already on medication and am in therapy. Sometimes it's not enough though.

i think most people drink outta peer pressure...even at and old age... even old men would prolly be made fun of if all their buddies were drinking.

Consider removing the judgement from your observations of others drinking. You honestly will never know until you try it out. I understand how you can be turned off by seeing your parents drunk but that's more your issue than an issue with the alcohol. To answer your question, some people like the feeling that alcohol can give you. You feel relaxed, you're less inhibited. Also the act of drinking is a social one (hopefully). Say you want to hang out and put in some time with a buddy of yours but don't want to say "do you want to come over and sit around and chat?" You can just say "wanna go and grab a few drinks?" My reasons for drinking are the above: social bonding and physical sensation.

Then they're not your buddies

Point of it? What's the point of smoking.. buying fast cool looking cars.. overindulgencies. Though I do not drink.. (not old enough) and I cannot because my religion prohibits consumption of alcohol. I have witnessed my friends drink because their older friends or family memeber do it. At college parties everyone drinks (cept me I'm the DD) They open up, relax, do and say stuff they normally wouldn't because of an overconscience mind or just to afraid. Believe me I'd love to get drunk one night and see how it feels.. but alas I can't. Drinking is fine by me... but overdoing anything is bad... specially alcohol.
