Yeah they have: Because getting drunk is fun. That's your answer. Why do people smoke pot? Because it causes euphoria, increased appreciation for food and music, and everything's funny as hell. It's fun. Why do people drink alcohol? Because they stumble around, laugh a lot, and get to escape reality for awhile.
People get drunk because it's fun to get drunk. If you choose not to, then that's cool. But honestly, you're 17-what kind of question is this...why do you think people get drunk?
youll be thanking all of that drinking and smoking when it gives you cancer just for that one night of fun.

I'd rather die at 60 having experienced life than die at 70 and avoided fun and new experiences. Just my opinion.
The only way smoking and drinking are going to give you cancer is if you have many many nights of fun!

I dunno you're sounding pretty bitter to me. People have honestly answered your question and all you can come up with is one line answers and mouthing off about cancer, jee really? I can get cancer from that? You can get cancer from burnt steak, still gonna eat that now?

All I am saying is, a lot of the best social situations I've ever been in, the times I've met the people who've changed my life was while at a social function where alcohol was present. Life is too boring to "not try" something.

No, he's explaining that alcohol is one way people have fun. It's not the only way, sure, but it is a way.

You're not on TV, so don't try playing doctor. You already stated you've never used mind altering substances. Nor do you ("if I go to college") have training in dealing with those who use, misuse or abuse them.
If you want to play holier than thou, go for it. That's fair game. But if you want to prescribe rehab, get a degree. Right now you have neither the personal knowledge of why people may seek alternate states nor the training to understand it in so much as in sterlized book form.
