Hmm Guiness Book of World Records says that the Veyron SS has a top speed that is yet to be matched...?
I'd bet with the caveat that it be a production car. There are most certainly cars that are faster than the Veyron SS.

I also don't know why you think that what Clarkson says on the handling front about the car matters even remotely regarding how ridiculous it is....? Also Clarkson said that the car is the most unreliable car he's ever driven.
Oh yeah sure it'll be production cars, I don't think modified cars can really count, I'd still be interested to see a road legal car with a higher top speed, without a jet engine or crap like nitros etc.
😀 Oh forgive me. That clearly would elevate your knowledge much further.
Its a joke. I figured you were probably pulling the "yeah but it can't go round corners" junk. Someone already linked to a street legal drag car that's pretty insane and you brushed it off.
I'm confident the SSC can beat the Veyron's top speed. They've already got a test mule for the Tuatara that does 0-200 in under 16 seconds (Veyron Super Sport was tested and ran 22.2 0-200).
http://www.autoblog.com/2011/10/27/ssc-runs-tuatara-prototype-from-0-200-in-under-16-seconds/Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing that.

Not street legal, but 426mph with just a twin turbo V8.
Pretty cool, but if it's street legal it's much more impressive.
Here's the Ford GT. Standing mile means, from a stop, so 0-266mph in 1 mile. Not to be mistaken with top speed.
Wait so in a standing mile run the car has to get to 266mpg?! (also always wondered what makes it a "standing" mile...?)
^Umm, no. a standing mile just means how fast you can go from a standing start until you reach 1 mile distance, as opposed to a flying mile, which is how fast you can cover a mile when you're already rolling.
Strange term "standing"...? I'd have called it from a stop.
"Stopping mile" just doesn't sound right. 😛

What car do you own?
