What's the most powerful car you have been in, and driven.

drag car? WTF can one do with 600 FWHP? I have driven legitimate 300 fwhp cars (most notably a mazdaspeed protege with a disco) and it was too much

Completely a drag car. Around town the car is a dog to drive. Turbo doesn't spool until ~5000 RPM, twin disc clutch can be difficult in rush hour, hard to start when cold (E85 + Minnesota).

Once on the freeway the car comes alive. At 70 MPH or so the front wheels stop spinning (even w/ LSD) and the car grabs and just goes (with some wide sticky rubber).

And yes, that was wrong wheel HP.

Been in (while in motion): Lexus IS-F
Been in (parked): Audi R8

Driven: Audi S5 or BMW 550i at one of those driving events they used to have.

On public roads, my Mom's MDX.

I don't get the obsession with hp. The most fun I've ever had behind the wheel of a car was in a Lotus Elise which makes 190hp. I've driven some reasonably fast cars too.

900hp just seems like a ridiculous number for a car that is driven on the street to have. Christ, a Formula One car makes about that much power. It just seems like a recipe for disaster trying to control that much power or at the very least not very enjoyable to drive as a result.

The thing I've learned from the C4 and Z4 M is that the limit for what I consider too much horsepower is a little below 300hp for a 3000lb car. Feel and a good powerband from the engine are more important. I think a car like the BRZ would be perfect if it had maybe a 2.5L engine for the low end torque. That's what makes a car feel fast in everyday driving.

My Viper on both accounts. I don't know anybody local with anything faster so when I want to experience faster I need to buy it.

Or make new friends I guess.

Viper GTS

who's car is this? Guessing a shop car, maybe fullblown?

I am a mn guy... and I run e85 (more so e70) in the winter. Once you give the car a bit of a warmup it aint so bad

False good sir! Just need moar tire.

BS... only so much tire you can fit under a FWD setup. then asking the car to turn with any sort of throttle is just an exercise in futility. Car was definitely fun in a straight line, but once you turned the wheel, it was a waste of power. There are some cool FWD cars out there now, ie focus ST, but what's the point? Get a subie or lancer evo and be able to use the power

Fastest I drove, probably my friends Dragged out Cutless. It's an 11 second car and way over NA 500whp.

I didn't push it as I had 0 experience with it and the car is just pure scary.

Fastest car I've been in is probably my buddies Z06 C6 Vette. When it was stock that thing was a monster. You can actually feel your organs moving back into the seat.

After he supercharged it, it was well over 800whp and the difference was just.......something else. Let's say that on top of your organs pressing into the seat, you get that "video game like smear" with your vision.

I always struggled to understand how 500hp wasn't enough for him....

Ridden in: My dad's '69 Camaro COPO. Drag racer with around 650 HP. Rode in it a few times when I was a kid. It has now been fully restored.

Driven: My dad's current drag racer, '86 Camaro with a 305. Not sure how much power it has, but man, what a ride!

I consider myself a car guy but haven't really had that much opportunity to drive really high powered cars.

I suppose now that I've thought about it it depends on if we are talking just engine power or power to weight.

I've driven my mom 2010 X5 which has 300hp. but its 5000 pounds.

Power to weight wise, i've also driven a 2005 G35 (280hp) and my current car is also pretty similar in power to weight ( on paper 240hp, though most agree its probably more like 270 and underrated) which are much better due to weight than the x5. Drove a 2011 335 diesel before too which had like 400+ torque and 260 hp so I'm figuring that might be the most powerful "feeling" i've driven.

I think the fastest car i've even sat in while it was moving was my coworkers 2011 mustang GT which has like what 400-410 hp.

I have no idea what it'd be like to be in a really high powered car as I'm not sure where you could use it. I drove that G35 at 135+ mph in my stupider days.... and that seemed like more than enough. As of late i've been thinking my current car is probably a little more power than you need even in pretty spirited normal driving.

A lot of you know people with tuned cars... I don't know anyone with one (I also live in Seattle; it's pointless. Before I was in Portland; almost ditto. Before that: Poor man's land.). Most people I know don't have cars or have something like an old honda civic. The price I pay for knowing people that have pretty low incomes...

Ridden in: No idea, honestly. I don't ride in other people's cars often. The most powerful was probably near 400hp (Truck/SUV).

Driven: Probably about the same. Driving cars besides my own is very rare (Hell, I don't know if I've driven anything but the cars my parents have had and my own). I drove a truck with about 350-400hp (a newer Dodge Ram 1500 with a lot of options).

Drive in to a car dealer in a Viper and I'm pretty sure they'd let you test drive anything! Then again I doubt they'd let you drive a 600hp car hard

Was/is my brother's car. He worked at MAPerformance. Here is a dyno of it. This was a few years ago (he now has a better ported turbo housing and better tune).

Hope to run it at the annual (now 2x per year) MAPerformance Test and Tune day(s) at BIR.
