If you make 500K a year a Lamborghini may be less expensive than a medium priced laptop for someone making minimum wage, well maybe. Anyway the point is to list the most expensive purchase you've ever made that you could barely afford, or maybe you couldn't afford it? What was it and why did you buy it?

This is most extravagant gambling moment in my life thus far. Right after I checked out of The Mirage in Vegas, I had $200 left to gamble and was even from the night before, and before I left for the airport, I went to the highroller area and played the $100 slot machines. I turned $200 into $1000, from which I cashed out, and ran out of the casino and headed to the airport. I ended up racking over 500 points on the players card, and was even offered free weekend stay a couple months later.

As far as purchases:
Buying an Acura RSX auto w/leather when I was making less than $20k a year, the insurance and car payment were higher than my apartment rent, although rent is
relatively cheap in Arizona.

$800 and change on some funky light for my entryway, looks awesome, no wires showing and its weighted with a stainless steel ball in the center, ring of lights on the outside.

probably my ipod... I bought the 60GB ipod + tons of accessories as one last splurge before my roommate moved out last May (after he moved out, I really had to tighten my belt and cut back on a lot of things to save money)

Buying my current house while keeping the old one to rent....but it wasn't ready to rent for about 8 months...and in the meantime, my business was really hurting.
About as bad as it ever got.
