My wife and I purchasing her mothers side-by-side 3 bedroom duplex. We got it for a steal. We would have been stupid not to purchase it. All she wanted was enough $$ to cover her debts and a little extra 'spending' money.

It's been 5 years now and I don't regret it one bit. Large backyard and enough of a front yard to keep my daughter entertained for years. I've started to think about investing in a rental property for additional income. Maybe purchasing a 2 or 4 unit to offset some expenses we're accruing right now, most notably day care for my daughter and my 2006 Trailblazer.

My education.

My parents have shelled out around 80k, I'm currently about 20k into debt after finishing undergrad. After med school I think it will be around 120k.

My new 2007 Malibu LT V6. $22K @ 7.25%.

I make about 22K/year. Payments aren't bad and insurance isn't nearly what it was on my 01 Mustang, so I can't say it's painful, but it was extravagant since almost no one in my family has ever bought a new car.

$450 in one month for anysoldier.com (shipping included) when I was a TA making $1200/month (after taxes). But I'd do it again.

Surprisingly almost no one mentions their high end computer gear. Are we all closet medium priced gamers? :)

The most "expensive" purchases I've made were some stocks I bought in 1997-2000 before the big crash of 2000. When you lose 75% of an investment at that time, it can be very "expensive". However, I've held onto almost every single stock from that time and now have actually come back into the positive. Go figure.

$2500 for a computer; Pentium 133.

Or, maybe, bunches of goats and llamas. Significantly more than the computer, but we make significantly more now.

I spent $700 on a stripper one night at a place called the Rouge in So Cal. TOTALLY worth it, especially considering that I'm a pathetic loser with teh womenz. Besides, they don't have a "no touching" policy and she felt NIIIIIIIICE!

As far as material things go, um... I blow through good scotch like it's water. My bottle of Blue Label lasted eight days. And, I spent 1200 bucks on three rare Randy Johnson baseball cards; 6500 on a hot tub, 500 on a GPU (for the guy who said none of us mentioned our computers), 21K for a truck, 220K for a house and about 1500 on plane tickets for my friends to visit last year. Luckily I don't have to pay for my own airfares.

I guess it would be a $650 Over/Under shotgun when I was 16. I saved up for a good 2-3 years for that thing working weekends at a sportmens club. More recently my 2006 Mazda 3s, but I still owe $14k on that :p
