As a kid, my dad used to regularly tell the attendent to "fill it or five dollars, which ever comes first" We owned big cars, too. And yes, back then, you never had to pump your own gas. :) They cleaned your windshield, too. Those were the days....

Yup, for me too... I don't think I'm old enough to remember any lower...

It was even lower at the (Native American) Indian reservations (while I was in Buffalo)... since it's not taxed there...

I actually bought gas for .19/gal. Had a VW bug and could fill it for under $2.00. As a kid, I remember gas wars that had the price under .05/gal. I also remember buying cigs for under .25/pk. Yes, I am that old :) And this is in the high tax (even back then) New York State.

Back before the first gas price increase, (maybe around 97, 98, one of those times), 99 cents a gallon.

Somewhere around 84-89 cents per gallon..Georgia a few years ago.
