Welp, after getting a $20 check in the mail today from Phillips, I thought they had finally given me my money back from a CDRW i purchased 3 months ago.... Then i come to Hot Deals tonight and see that the check for the CDRW was actually $40 (Not the $20 that i got). So this got me thinking. Did i send away for any other rebates from them?? After 5 minutes of thinking it hit me. This $20 was from an Acoustic Edge that i purchased OVER A YEAR AGO. My god, i knew companies were slow, but A YEAR! Wow... I think thats the LAST time i send away for a phillips rebate...

I waited 1 year for my $50 from Diamond Multimedia. I kept calling them and a year from when I sent it in, they said it wasn't valid (although it was). Some lady decided to send it to me and I finally got it. 🙂

I still haven't received my rebate from Prime peripherals year ago. It was for some cdr on last year Staple's President's day sale. :disgust:

My CompUSA rebate is approaching six month and I still haven't got it yet. I stopped by CompUSA the other day and bitched them out about it. I think CompUSA sucks in general.

Purchase Date: 9/5/2001
Retailer: COMPUSA

CASH:$50.00
Status: APPROVED
Estimated Check Mail Date**:11/23/01

Guess what? They haven't even shipped it out yet!

When they ship it out, the status says "mailed".

The result comes from wheresmyrebate.com, handled by TCA Fulfillment of New Rochelle, NY, a company who have had many many complaints filed against to BBB and haven't done anything about.

i dont even send away for them. i never consider rebates as part of the sale price of a product.

Man, Rebates are a SCAM.

ON Thanksgiving, I purchased $350 worth of stuff with an $80 investment after rebates. All from Staples. To Date, I've recieved 3 of 6 rebates back that I sent in the following monday after "Black Friday" (And no, former retail workers call it Black Friday because it SUX to work during it.)

ON top of that, I've got a couple of rebates that never came. Namely from IOMagic thru Comp-USA (Floppy Disk, and CD-ROM). From now on, I scan my rebate, and receipt, and call the company if after 30 days I haven't recieved it.

The one place where rebates are not a scam, is SAMS Club. NEver had a problem with them.

My uncle believes that some companies purposefully stall their rebates to see if people will call. He's had that happen to him a bunch of times since he bought ass-loads of computer equipment for his church's School (35 computers all built from scratch). He's still waiting on over $1000 of rebates at last check. (And yes, he had church volunteers buy the equipment and fill out the rebates so there was 35 differenet addresses). Two Companies he's called have said "We're sorry sir, your rebate return was misplaced." and then a week later, his check arrives.

I got most rebates within 2.5 months. The only rebate I never got was from Epson when I purchased a printer in September 1999.

ALL CompUSA rebates are handled by TCA Fulfillment in New Rochelle. That fulfullment company have lots of complaints in BBB file and the company is known to ignore BBB.

NEVER EVER send any rebate, especially compUSA rebates and anything that goes to New Rochelle without certificate of mailing(PS Form 3817) and keep photocopies of every piece of paper work you send in. Record the shipping date on your envelope and bitch them out when you don't get it in 10 weeks.

1 year 16 days, and still no SMC/Amazon.com rebate, they say I'll have it by June. Yeah, Right......
SMC still owes me!!!:|

Why can't those fargin rebates be issued at point of sale?? The whole friggin thing is a scam. They hope you don't bother with it and negate the value over time by making you wait. 😱:disgust:

Yea, I had to wait until a few weeks ago for that 8x4x32x Philps cd-rw. I also had to wait almost 4 months for the Hi Val 100 pack of cd-rs. I won't be buying any more Hi Val or IO Magic products because of their hassles.

Well, the worst (and best, paradoxically) was for a Umax scanner I'd bought a couple of years ago. $99 with $20 rebate=$79.99. Sent rebate form off , gave the scanner to my mom for her Xmas present, went on about life, and as a matter of fact eventually forgot about the rebate.
Till one day the next October, when my wife confronted me with "What did you buy from Umax that got you a $200 rebate?". For the life of me, couldn't think of a thing! After looking it over, it dawned on me that it was for a scanner, the original purchase date was November (of the year before)- yes, the $99.99 scanner wound up getting me a $200 rebate......

never saw my $20...from 1999...they closed their doors 2 months after submission....🙁

Of course the retailer is banking on you not checking up! It's all a big game to me, and if you're not playing to win, kiss your $ goodbye.

I just checked on a CompUSA "black friday" rebate the other day. It had been approved and was scheduled to ship in March. Hello? Rebate form says 8 weeks. I called the 800 number to inquire about it and the guy said "I'll expidite that and get it shipped tomorrow" before I could even ask about the date it was going to ship.

Pretty much for all these reasons I avoid rebates except from places I know will honor their word. I'm still waiting on a Netgear rebate from last August. This thread reminds me I need to remind them about it.

They would prefer you give up so they don't have to honor their promises. Do that and your a victim. Do it not and maybe you'll get that bread.
