ive gone a week on just water, ham sandwish once a day, and tons of ciggarrettes. i did that for about 5-6 days, and then realized.... i NEEDED food.

i dont even know why i did it, i guess was just curious, i lost 25lbs in the process, VERY unhealthy.

i went from 180 to 155 in one week. 😱

It was probably just water weight.

I've gone a week, but it was just because I never got hungry, and when I did, I was too lazy to get something to eat. After a few days my body starts to shut down the hunger sensors and I don't feel hungry, much like getting a second wind when going without sleep.

Again, you must be a pretty small dude.

5'11, around 140. I don't get hunger pains until it's too late, and if I wait it out, they usually go away. Been trying to eat in a more healthy pattern, but I just don't have the motivation. Hunger doesn't do it for me. I'm one of those weird people who just doesn't like to eat.

I fasted for 7 days and felt great afterwards.

Sounds like what I'm doing, but I'm going with juice instead of the master cleanser.

There's going to be a lot of naysayers, but I'd rather listen to actual people who have done it and recommended it, than some links dug up using google.

i didn't eat for two weeks last december. strep throat and food don't mix very well. i also only drank water when i was downing pills which was at most .5L a day. I went from 145lbs to 130lbs (5'10"). it took about a month to gain most of the weight back. as it is, i'm still a few pounds under what i was at the start of december. so if you want to lose a lot of weight and you can't afford meth, make out with someone that has strep throat.

Juice makes you fat w/ all the added surgar. Go buy real fruit and eat it if you want juice.

Just ate. Eating again in 5 more hours. I don't eat breakfast, so I'm food free between 8PM to 1PM everyday.

Freshly squeezed 100% juice.
Heh, I'm surprised there was no mention about finding the 60 lbs of feces in Elvis' colon, which I saw on another website.

Try it, it won't be fun. You can't fix years of bodily abuse in three days of different bodily abuse.

i think you're talkin nonsense, skoorb.

First..noonae is talking about "bodily abuse".....and, also freedom to everyone which tabloid websites to visit..whatever....

Also...i highly doubt that 3 days on juice and not eating will do anything bad.....rather the opposite. Different story if you plan to do it longer....but what should be wrong doing that for three days ?

Also...if people complain about "too much sugar" in the juice....well....in case SOME americans stioll dont know..there's nutritional information on almost EVERYTHING you can purchase in the store...the problem then is not the fact thathe would like to fast for a few days and drink juice - but rather that he is so uninformed in what he actually is buying in the grocery store.

And btw. he already said it will be freshly squeezed juice - and honestly i dont see anything wrong with this. There are people around who go on weird diets (incl. juice) all the time...and you sound like he is going to kill himself 🙂

Should have made it a poll, I went 2 weeks without much food, I probably had half a cantelope and a 2 liter of sprite at the time. The hunger pains were a nice distraction from the other pain, and the nearly constant nausea didn't help things. I went from 190 to 170 during that time and I bet half of that weight was muscle mass, 3 years later I still haven't recovered all the muscle.

Uh... why? All he was consuming was water.

I once lived on beer for seven days and seven nights.

Depending on the beer that wouldn't be that hard. Most of the beer I drink is around 200 cals a bottle, all you need is 10 a day to get 2000.

How does fasting cleanse and purify the body?

A: It does just the opposite. Fasting burdens your system with accumulated waste from the breakdown of fat and muscle tissue. The concentration of waste products in your blood and urine can be dangerous. Malnutrition that accompanies prolonged fasting makes you susceptible to infection and weakens your ability to fight infection.

One-day fasts pose no serious threat for healthy adults. However, even short-term fasting (skipping several meals or greatly reducing recommended amounts of calories) as a way to lose weight puts your body under stress.

# No length of fast is safe for: Children
# Teenagers
# Pregnant or breastfeeding women
# People with heart disease, type 1 diabetes, kidney or liver problems

Fasting is a drastic challenge to your system. The only difference between fasting and starvation is that fasting is a matter of choice ? but your body doesn't know that. It reacts by going into a state of emergency.

Your body must draw on its reserves to provide energy because an inadequate amount of food is being supplied. The body first turns to glucose from the liver's stores of glycogen. This supply lasts less than one day. After that, the body must turn to muscle tissue to supply protein and other substances it can make into glucose. If fasting is prolonged, muscles throughout the body, including those in vital organs such as the heart, diminish in size because their protein is being depleted by the body.

If you fast longer than 24 hours, your body tries to protect itself by producing another energy source called ketones. Ketones are made from fat. As the amount of ketones in your bloodstream increases, your body reacts by trying to eliminate them. This can cause dehydration and loss of electrolytes. Electrolytes such as sodium, chloride and potassium are necessary for transmitting nerve impulses, making muscles contract and maintaining a proper level of fluid in and around body cells. Dizziness, dry skin, blood pressure irregularities, increased urination and heart irregularities are potential side effects associated with dehydration and loss of electrolytes.

Walgreens sounds more logical to me

Studies have shown fasting once a month for 24 hours is good for you. Do it on the first of every month - from dinner time Saturday to dinnertime Sunday, or whenever you don't have to work and don't need your body's energy really bad.

Cut sugar, junk food, tobacco, alcohol, etc. out of your diet, eat a salad every day, and drink plenty of water.

HOOKERS and BLOW

Fixed. And much improved, might I add.

EDIT: I love how people will try anything some dirty hippie told them to do in order to cleanse themselves of "toxins". Which toxins, specifically? And do you really think that this hypothetical reduction in "toxins" is going to have a greater net effect than the increased level of stress you stick your body with when you are voluntarily starving yourself?

Your body likes food. It likes food often. If you really want to feel better during the day, try eating 5-6 small meals per day that total to your current daily caloric intake, rather than not eating at all. Also, try that "exercise" thing that you may or may not have heard of. Many small meals in a balanced diet + exercise will make you feel a hell of a lot better than you do now, and you'll gain, rather than lose, muscle mass. And it might even help get you laid, though I realize that many people here on ATOT may not have more than a rough concept of what that is. But, and you can trust me on this, it is a good thing.

I fast often. Usually just 3 or 5 days. Longest was I think 14 days. I dring fresh juice I squeeze at home, usually OJ, & good water.

At first, eating habit is S T R O N G. It takes discipline not to eat.
Then about 3rd day, usually headache, as poisons start comming out.
From about 4th day, feel strong as steel, very welcome feeling of overall well-being, unusual clarity of thought & ability to concentrate, headache leaves.
After about day 10, headache again, doesn't leave this time around, body signaling it's time to end the fast.

Shower lots, wear clean clothes, get sunshine on skin if you can, go outside & breathe fresh air deeply several times a day, & go right on ahead & take asprin despite what anybody tells you against that. Do it.

Show me one peer reviewed medical journal article espousing this idea. Go ahead - I dare you.

fixed for truth.

I've probably been off food for approximately 48 hours. Appendix came out, and I was not into eating or drinking anything. IV did it for me until I could put back some real food. Not sure on the health effects, but anything radically different from your normal does put the body under duress. If you need changes, I recommend, from experience, changing habits slowly, or they never really change at all.
