176 mph in a rear engine dragster...

Hopefully the new engine and shot of Nitrous will net 200 mph...

140 in a 1970 Olds Cutlass - the thing was pretty built up. It still had a bit left but ran out of road. The car rode so smooth and quiet for being so fast that the sensation of speed was quite subdued. Ah those days on the Lake Ontario State Parkway - smooth 2 lane concrete in both directions.*sniff*

About 2 weeks later the bottom end just gave it up (crankshaft bearing) going 45 on a main road on my way to Buffalo. Blue smoke everywhere, chug-chug-chugging. I ended up selling it for parts.

I had a Mazda RX-3 after that and that thing going 105 was a little bit more hairy.

128mph in a mitsubishi galant. I'm not going to tell you what state of mind I was in, but I always look back to that night and can't believe how stupid I was.

150 in a buddy's corvette over the Jamestown Bridge. Closest to death I think I've ever been.

Same as the last time this got posted.

135 MPH in my Altima on an empty stretch of highway; I was the driver and only one in the car. Surprisingly, it held onto the road pretty well. I got pulled over shortly for doing 91 in a 70

So the cop was wondering why you were so happy?

Hit 130 mph for about a half a minute in my 97 BMW 740iL on Route 87 North going through NY state. Wide open highways there and no one on the road, just wanted to see how fast my then new car could handle. This was about 8 years ago...

Never gone above 85, as I started freaking out about gas prices when it hit $1.20 a gallon.

Cruise control and 55mph FTW.

55? GTFO the road!

I stay in the slow lane, drive the speed limit, reap better gas milage, never get a speeding ticket.
I stand by my original FTW. If you don't get it, silly you.

110-120 in an Audi R8. That thing was epic, it did it so easy, with so much left on tap, unfortunate there was a corner coming, and believe it or not you need to slow down a bit to corner in that thing ;)

100 mph (governor limited) in a 1996 Chevy 1500 ext cab (w/ V6). On the same exact stratch a year later I got nailed for 89 in a 55.
Young and stupid I was. 21 or so. Oh, a long straight stretch in middle of no where Adirondacs.

110 mph. STI Subaru. Adredaline was pumping. :Q

As pussy as that sounds. But seriously, I'm not one for risking my head exploding.
