Whats the difference between a pig and a hog?

From dictionary.com:

pig Pronunciation Key (pg)
n.

a. Any of several mammals of the family Suidae, having short legs, cloven hooves, bristly hair, and a cartilaginous snout used for digging, especially the domesticated hog, Sus scrofa domesticus, when young or of comparatively small size.

b. The edible parts of one of these mammals.

hog Pronunciation Key (hôg, hg)
n.

a. Any of various mammals of the family Suidae, which includes the domesticated pig as well as wild species, such as the boar and the wart hog.

b. A domesticated pig, especially one weighing over 54 kilograms (120 pounds).

In an attitude/personality sense they are polar.

A pig would highly selective - IE the male chauvenistic pig being selective in women
A hog would be highly un selective - IE Fatty McGee keeps hogging all the popcorn, or Kobe Bryant keeps hogging the ball.

When Hogs are young they are known as pigs until sexual maturity.
Either Barrows or Gilts.
Female pigs are known as gilts until they farrow, have their first litter of pigs. They then are refered to as Sows.
Male pigs either get to be barrows their entire lives, which requires castration, or Boars.
It's better to be the Boar. Your day of bacon reckoning is delayed as long as you keep knocking up the sows.

City boys.😉
