Whats the difference between a pig and a hog?

Co-working says they are the same but I remember hearing they where different but can remember how.

Hog is a male pig. Pig is the genderless term.

it feels different when calling someone a hog as oppose to pig.....

i don't know but i know the difference between a pig and a drunk. a pig won't hump a drunk.

In an attitude/personality sense they are polar.

A pig would highly selective - IE the male chauvenistic pig being selective in women
A hog would be highly un selective - IE Fatty McGee keeps hogging all the popcorn, or Kobe Bryant keeps hogging the ball.

When Hogs are young they are known as pigs until sexual maturity.
Either Barrows or Gilts.
Female pigs are known as gilts until they farrow, have their first litter of pigs. They then are refered to as Sows.
Male pigs either get to be barrows their entire lives, which requires castration, or Boars.
It's better to be the Boar. Your day of bacon reckoning is delayed as long as you keep knocking up the sows.
