Let's see, I graduated high school in 1996...

Ugh... the #1 song that year was the fucking Macarena. If that's the song that defines my generation, just shoot me know and put me out of my misery.

That's just what you'd say if you WERE that old. :sneaky:

Shit...I almost wish that were true. I could have fought in WWII...killed Japs like my dad did instead of Vietnamese.

(although, the WWII Marines had it MUCH rougher than we did in VN)

Yes, I know it's a cliche at this point

The song itself, the story behind it, that which has become of the people involved with it. It pretty much sums it up neatly. Favorite part: the imagery of dragging a coffin in the video. Just perfect.

Alright, AreaCode. Your turn!

'78 - Smells Like Teen Spirit

As others said...it's just a stupid song, about angry kids that are angry simply because they are kids. There's no political message. No underlying social commentary. Just unintelligle lyrics, angst and loud music.

Here some tunes that were extremely popular in the 90s that no one wants to admit they were a fan of

Snap - Rhythm is a Dancer
Aqua - Barby Girl
Culture Beat - Mr. Vain

Sorry, I don't like any of them, there was some good '90's music, REM was good then, Smithereens, Everclear as well. The dance thing seemed to emulate C+C music factory for the most part. I grew up in the '70's but just because "Disco Duck" was a hit doesn't mean that was the relevant music of the era LOL..
