What's the biggest bug you've ever killed?

I guarantee it wasn't THIS big:

I don't usually kill big bugs. It's the small ones I find irritating. I'd keep that thing as a pet :^D

We regularly get "water bugs" - basically massive cockroaches, down here in sunny south FL.

You can step on them, and they'll just lift up and scurry out from under your foot:

Scale isn't shown well, but the largest one I've killed would exceed the length of a playing card, and they are wider than a mans thumb.

Cicada Killer (like a regular wasp on steroids)

I've killed a couple of these back in the day. They get really pissed when you catch them in a bug net a try to get them into a killing jar.

May not be as big as your grasshopper, but definately more intimidating.

Cicada killers are scary. There was a hive of them living under our deck and I was scared to mow my lawn every summer between ages 8-18.

You could have safely picked it up and crushed that thing in your hand. It won't attack a human.

Its alot of fun to throw other bugs into the web and watch the spider go at it wrapping them up. I do however dislike walking right into thier webs draped across trails. Which depending on my mood either gets them shot with my current available weapon, or I just use the barrel of my gun to dismantle thier web so I dont run into it again on the way out of the woods. Most get option 2, but there are a few unlucky ones that got #1.

Yea one of these big fuckers flew into our house a few months ago. Pretty intimidating, they are big enough you can feel the wind from their wings when they fly by.

I hate when those crazy bastards build huge webs across trails and driveways! Damn it, walking into those webs, especially with orb spiders, is NOT fun.

Orb spiders get REAL big... UGH goosebumps just thinking about that thing crawling on my face again....

I once took off a hat that I had put on hours earlier, and found a spider with a ~3cm leg span inside :^D Kind of gave me the creeps. I like spiders, but I like to know where they are at all times. You'd never get me to handle a tarantula. I'd probably kill the thing sweeping it off my arm :^D

We have thousands or millions of brown tarantulas in the foothills east of here. In the fall, they migrate...and they'll be "thick" on the roads at times. I used to catch at least one every fall to take to my kids' school class.

Fortunately, their bite is about as "deadly" as a bee sting. If you're allergic to bee stings, you'll likely be allergic to a tarantula bite...but otherwise, it's just painful as hell, not life-threatening (this only applies to the ones we have here...other tarantulas may be more dangerous)

It was some kind of enormous beetle. I tried to crush it with my shoe and I swear the thing supported my weight for a second before squashing.

I was in the bathroom in one the University structures, had just finished my business and this 4" long 1" wide (I shit you not) cockroach scurried across the floor out of nowhere. Had to solidly stomp the thing 3 times before it stopped moving. 😛
