I wonder if they'll release a useful SDK for mod teams. I heard a few mod teams canceled their projects because EA is notorious for not letting SDKs out.

Plenty of mods here:

http://www.bfcentral.com/

nobody has been able to mess with the code yet...so far its model changes, and levels. Stuff like animations, weapons, and gameplay tweaks require code changes. For that, the SDK is needed.

Seeing people fall hundreds of feet and slam into the side of a hill on wake island will get you ROFL for several minutes.

LMFAO. AHAHHAHA. I love jumping out of a plane and waiting til the LAST second to open the chute. :p

That's awesome. In Wake I would say "We need to capture the airfield!" and hopped in the back of a Japanese bomber, had my friend fly really high, I would jump out and start a sky dive, he would dive bomb, and I would open my chute 2 seconds before I hit the top of the building. Then I ice everyone at the airfield and it's ours. pwnage.

Also of note, this game is like 600x more fun playing with a clan.

Amen. Without some kind of communication people just randomly run around to whatever control point was just overrun.....thereby leaving others to be overrun....repeat. You can kick a lot of ass with a little bit of strategy.

Clans can really show the imbalances in the maps though. A coordinated effort by the Japanese on Wake can easily lead to the airfield being controlled by the Japenese thereby giving the Japanese absolute air superiority which negates anything the Allies can possibly bring. The Japanese can also be run off the island and can pop up anywhere to attack any control point whereas if the Allies get run off the island they lose. Same with Battle of the Bulge except it's Germans with unlimited tanks at their safe base and the Allies with only a couple tanks IF they control the tank spawn point when it pops. Kursk can be unbalanced too if the Germans get the high control point because they can attack the spawn base of the Allies.

Another interesting thing to note is that generall people don't hold points. They capture and run to the next one. If you are a holder on a general pub game your team will probably win because of you, but you probably won't have the most points.

That's true. It's amazing how much havoc you can cause if you hang out at a control point and ambush those who appear. An especially big PITA if you can hover near ammo and the med cabinet. It tends to be kinda boring waiting for someone to show up on some of the maps, which is pretty much why people don't do this much.

Agreed. I think if the Axis are dumb enough to let you sink one of their ships, they should stay sunk....thereby eliminating the planes and spawn point.

I don't know much about bazooka's but I would think the bazooka on MOHAA is more realistic. Just caught me off guard the first few times I blasted away at soldiers feet, only to be cutdown by there machine gun. Also a direct hit with the tank at about 40+yards is awesome, seeing your victim flying almost to the treetops on wake is hillarious......

Those are anti-tank rounds. They are likely something like HEAT rounds, where they explode and drill through armor with, well, heat. They could also be like SABOT rounds and just be something like an armor piercing shell. Either way, the explosion wouldn't be too big.

What is everyone's favorite, charachter to be Allies or Axis? and what weapony do you prefer?
Myself I prefer either to be an engineer, or assault. Especially since I can't seem to hit jack crap online, so the machine gun seems to be pretty handy.....
Also preferr Axis for some reason, in BF, and MOHAA.....

Allies and sniper. I've never played online, so I make sure I always get the tanks. The computer has no idea what it is doing.

Doesn't matter what side really for me. I like being the medic then the engineer depending on the map. Anti-tank on those tank oriented maps.

My favorite is the medic then assault then sniper. I use Anti-Tank when necessary but only then.

Although, I really don't like the BAR1918 that the Allied Assault uses, the clip is to small.

I don't really care which side, I just generally go with what I get when I load the game/server.

I am almost always Axis but its usually the comp that puts me as axis. In fact I don't htink I've ever played Omaha as Allies yet. I'm usually always just an assault trooper but usually in some sort of vehicle or plane.

Yeah I agree the few times I am allies their clip is too damn small.

In MOHAA I'm allies though I just can't get enough of that rifle sound. Its by far one of the best sounding weapons ever

Are the allied assault rifles (sorry, don't know the actual name for the rifles) more powerful than the axis assault rifles?

I can kill pretty much anyone, at almost any distance in the map, with my trusty allied assault rifle.

This game does rock hardcore. I usually play w/ a single buddy of mine on servers w/ as many people as possible. It would be more fun if there were more people I knew.

If there's a heavily populated position that I feel I have no real opportunity to hold on my own, I like to get near an ammo box and just start throwing grenades as fast as I can (presuming no one on my team is in sight). Sure, they'll eventually get me, but I often get tons of kills in the process. If I manage to clear them out, I'll take the flag before they all spawn again... if I have time. The top hill on Iwo Jima is a good place to do this as it always seems to be the last position people maintain :)

BF1942 is a great concept that still needs work. Hopefully, some things like hit detection and netcode problems will be better after the next patch. Perhaps more than that, the game needs mature players who want to conduct campaigns and not TK everyone to fly the plane.

BF1942 locks up if I try to play with ZA on. I have to shut it down, then the game runs fine (P4 2.0A on a ASUS P4B266 with 512MB PC2100 DDR and ATi Radeon 7500).

You have to give access rights to BF1942 through ZA or it will lock up. I had the same problem until I gave BF1942 rights.
