its such an awesome game. If you don't have the time and patience for it then its not your type of game and you can stick to the mindless endless clicking of UT and Quake
This is SOOOOO teambased. Its hard to get a whole lot done on your own. Thats part of what makes it so good. That and there is so much variation and things to do. I get tired of flying, go to tank, go to ships, go to flag cap.... its incredible.
PS
It's a freakin tank!
First of all, LOL at this
PIC
Secondly, I agree completely. Unlike UT or Q3, you can't go Rambo and expect to accomplish anything on your own. If you're in a tank, EXPECT to have some troops backing flanking you or else the tank gunner is gonna be dead in 5 seconds. The lumbering B17's need support from the pesky German ME BF-109's and such.
There is just SO much variation in the game. I mean, it's like REALLY being at war. I mean, everything is interactive. I just get amazed sometimes to actually think that there are THIS many people around me...tanks rolling by, two dudes in a jeep zipping by at 45MPH down the road, a P-51 Mustang dropping bombs on tank in the distance, a soldier in an anti-aircraft station splattering flak all over the sky, small troop carriers making their way to shore, and countless others.
BF1942 is the kind of game where EVERYONE has that ONE moment that just amazed them or left them rolling on the floor in laughter. I've had quite a few myself, one being listed above. Another that I listed in another thread:
I had a string of runs in a F4U Corsair I took off from our air base and bombed 5 planes in a row (in 5 seperate waves) as they were trying to take off from the carrier. Then I started gunning for the troop carrier boats that were landing on the shore. After about 10 mins of mindless bombing, I was shot by a Zero that had FINALLY been able to take off. My engine started smoking so I parachuted out and landed in the water next to their carrier. So I swam over to the net overhanging the carrier and climbed up. I strolled down the sides of the carrier and up to the flight deck. I capped a guy in the back that was running to a Zero and I stole his plane and took off. I was laughing all the way back to base
