I used to be one of you guys who would say "NOTEPAD!", but to be realistic, you need to use a GUI. There is just only so much you'd want to type out javascript wise or when using complex tables, etc.

Dreamweaver is my authoring software of choice, though I've heard the latest Adobe Go Live is really good.

yep... i looked at the date after reading about Dreamweaver 4.0 versus Ultra Dev 4.0. I was thinking, why don't they just get MX?

Why did you resurrect this thread? :p

Haha.. I was wondering the same thing. 'Why isn't anyone recommending Dreamweaver MX?'

I've given MX a quick spin and it seems really nice for those who like to go at it graphically, huge improvement as far as churning out standards-compliant markup is concerned. It isn't my cup of tea though, I'm just too used to doing it all by hand with Homesite.

I say first learn hypertext markup language....then go on to wysisyg (?) editors. Youll see even with dreamweaver sometimes your tables or other html will have problems, then you must edit the actual html to get things exactly how you want them...by just learning how to use dreamweaver/frontpage you wouldnt necessairly get the jist of html, nor would you get the bragging rights :)

Dreamweaver if you need to use one. I hate frontpage header code, and if i recall, it doesn't work equally well with netscape browsers. even as a developer, i would use dreamweaver every now and then, sometimes for making hotspots, sometimes when i was lazy.

otherwise, TEXTPAD. (the search and replace from multiple pages and multiple save options, and marking capabilities make it superior to notepad.)

Why are you guys suggesting Dreamweaver 4.0 when there is MX and etc now?

Spongebob, Photoshop 5.5 is really old man, Photoshop 7.0 or CS have a lot more features than the older versions.

.. and 3 years later, the #1 choice is still Dreamweaver. Macromedia rules.
