Hot damn, this thread was created almost 3 years ago!

Personally, I've been a FrontPage/Photoshop man since the beginning. Been using Frontpage since Microsoft purchased it, and Photoshop since v. 4. Still r0x0rz in my book 😉

Why are you guys suggesting Dreamweaver 4.0 when there is MX and etc now? 😕

Spongebob, Photoshop 5.5 is really old man, Photoshop 7.0 or CS have a lot more features than the older versions.

Alright my work just nominated me to make a website for us, so what is the best software to use. Keep in mind that I have NO experience whatsoever with web design so I would need something without a big learning curve.

Is there a way to switch Dreamweaver from HTML mode to a XHTML or php only mode?

If not, can anyone reccomend something for coding pure PHP and XHTML?

edit2: i'll jot this down in my PDA to bump in another year 😛

Learn how to write HTML code outright using notepad. Once you can do that, use Dreamweaver but continue to tweak in "code view" using the knowledge you gained from using notepad.
