Krispy Kreme is just gross. There's too much glaze, and if you've seen how they make the donuts, you might not like them so much. They have cases and cases of tubes of donut batter stuff. They load the tubs into these calk gun type devices, that have a circular tip. Then they hold the gun over the frying vats, and pull the trigger repeatedly. Everytime they pull the trigger, it fires out a donut shaped batter blast into the grease.

Then they put about a quarter inch of glaze all the way around, even on the chocolate donuts!

As far as I can tell, the best donuts are made by little Korean women.

Hmm...I've seen the donuts made and they weren't made that way. They were made on a conveyor. :D

I like KK donuts because they're not as sugary as most others that I've had. I only eat their regular glazed donuts, though.

Is this a parody??

Being serious, because the KK that opened here has regular glazed that are described as sugary puffed air. People at my work have complained because they are too sweet (i.e. too much sugar) in comparison to the local donut/bakery shops.

No. KK has 22g of carbohydrates (6g sugar I believe) per donut; most others are much higher for their regular glazed, between 25 and 35. I've yet to have a regular glazed donut that's less sweet as KK (at small donut shops and large chains alike).

dunken donuts > krispy kreme

so overrated. i like my old fashioned donuts and bear claws... crispy cream is a one trick pony, their filled ones suck because they aren't fresh like the plain.

I don't know about where you are, but here the whole manufacturing process occurs on a conveyer, you can actually watch them being made. I fail to see why that manufacturing technique is "gross"? You don't think that, oh, every other donut chain uses premade batter?

Krispy Kreme donuts ARE very sweet, but they're sort of a "cotton candy" sweet, and are simply delicious right off the conveyer. There are times when I'm in the mood for a more solid, cake-like donut, but other times I love my Krispy Kreme :)

Well, the actual process is mix the batter(from sugar, flour, ect, provided by KK corporate), dump it into a device that measure and cuts them to a certain specification depending on the type of donut, then they travel through a "riser" for 45 minutes to make the dough rise. After that they go through the boiler on one side, get flipped, boiled on the other side, and then go through the glazer. After the glazer you see them coming around the conveyer belt where the workers pick them off and either box them up for you, or box them in preperartion for wholesale delivery.

I don't know how you could consider the process "gross". If anything it's very automated and "clean" where the only time you have any real human intervention is in the dough mixing and finally when they are boxed.
