Just type it into google shopping...I know NCIX has them...but for $50 more than newegg...which I am sure would be more than the tax you pay on it.

okay, just bought it from superwiiz.com. They are also located in california, but their price is 168.99. Then I found this coupon that'll give me $15 bucks back. That basically paid for tax! So I got the psu for 169, shipped!

So pc power & cooling is not the best any more? And is it because they were bought by OCZ?

They aren't the best because there are other companies that sell power supplies that are just as good....like the company that made many of PC P&C's PSUs, Seasonic.

Not THE best...ONE OF the best. They aren't even using Seasonic anymore...they haven't even really been available for nearly a year. Looks like they are going to be made by High Power now....just like man of the OCZ PSUs. Until PC P&C dropped from vendors about a year ago, I would say that there were no obvious effects from OCZ buying them.

from earlier in the thread, PC Power & Cooling were "the best" because they were made by seasonic!

This is how I see what has shaken out in the market for enthusiast power supplies.

10 years ago, while first Sparkle and then Seasonic were PCP&C's OEMs for Silencers, PCP&C was a performance leader. Few, if any, other power supply sellers saw much use in chasing a very niche market when PCP&C was leading with performance.

True, there were the rare Seasonic-brand retail units but were very hard to find at retail, Enermax with its Liberty brand, which performed well but had a tendency to blow up after a year of use, Seventeam, even harder to find retail than Seasonic, some Silverstones, and very few other real players. Antec was out there in force, but had a so-so reputation.

So, the enthusiast power supply market for ultra-high performance ps's was essentially given over to PCP&C as most makers/sellers saw little profit in that supposed niche market.

Now, fast forward the calendar to today and the situation is completely different.

First, Corsair entered the market determined to make a splash, and Corsair did with its 520HX and 620HX, both units that performed within a whisker of what PCP&C had and at a substantially lower price.

And we all know what happened with those units.....complete consumer acceptance and huge sales.

And Corsair didn't let up. Using two very good OEM's, CWT and Seasonic, Corsair eventually released units to almost dominate all sectors of the power supply market at every wattage and price point up to 1kW of output.

And this didn't go unnoticed. After Corsair showed that there was actually a real market for reasonably priced performance power supplies, and that enthusiasts were willing to pay for them, the market literally exploded.

Now you have bunches of power supplies all performing at least as well as PCP&C's Silencers and Turbo Cools----Antec with their Signature line and True Power New line, Enermax with new seemingly reliable releases (but still overpriced), Seasonic all over the retail channel now with what can arguably be called the best power supplies on the market (the X-Series) along with their M12D/S12D, XFX's Black Edition line, some BFG units, Silverstone releasing more and more very good units, Thermaltake's Toughpower line, and releases all the time from players like Topower, HiPro, OCZ, NorthQ, Ikonik, and others attempting to break into the high end---with varying degrees of success or failure.

And where's PCP&C all this time? Getting purchased by OCZ and left to languish.

Remember, OCZ publicly stated at the time it acquired PCP&C that PCP&C wouldn't change one bit. Well, we all see that was fabrication, given the fact that PCP&C has dropped its entire Turbo Cool line----the only units for sale are leftover stock and cannot be ordered for replacement by any retailer----and its Silencer line has been revamped to now use a 135mm cooling fan along with moving to a new OEM, Sirfa/HighPower, from Seasonic, a move I find just astoundingly stupid.

So, what's PCP&C's future? Only OCZ knows, but moving to a lesser OEM like Sirfa/HighPower from Seasonic is a horrible move, but will make PCP&C's bottom line more profitable....maybe. If you don't sell units, you cannot make $$$, and only time will tell if OCZ's heavy handedness in controlling PCP&C's future looks not so good.

okay, just got it shipped! $169 total for the seasonic x750, straight from superbiiz.com! (ewiz)

reseller ratings have them in the 8.xxx, so I guess they're trust worthy...

Any recommendations for a modular supply? Looking for 650 or 750 watts.

I just got my seasonic PSU, wow... Very high quality!!!! Though My system wont be completed until maybe a couple months later, but from what I see right now, the PSU is awesome! It's the only one i've seen that's 100% MODULAR!!!! that's right, even the Main power connector is modular! The cables reach just fine everywhere (I have a Silverstone TJ10-BW case) and it's really really amazing!

Can't wait t'il this rig is done!!!

My current Q6600 with 8GB of RAM and 8800GTX is finally gonna retire!

How do these compare to the Corsair hx650/750? I only ask because they are quite a bit cheaper.

The Seasonic PSUs are better. The X-650 is significantly better than the HX650 (although the HX650 is still an excellent PSU also made by Seasonic). The X-750 is better than the HX750...but not by a huge margin.

Look at the Antec Truepower New series as well.

If you want the absolute best...get the Seasonic X series. If you want excellence at 750W but don't want to bay $190-$200...get the Corsair HX750. If you want a damn good PSU at a damn good price at 750W, get the Antec Truepower New. If you want a damn good PSU at a damn good price at 650W...get the Antec Truepower New or the Corsair HX650...the Truepower New is a newer design though.

It's because it's at least 2 generations behind...

I'd rather take a Seasonic x12D or the 750W XFX Unit than the CWT made HX750.

Especially 'cause I don't trust the heatsinks in that unit...

Really a non-issue in reality.......how many complaints have you seen from people having to RMA a Corsair with heatsinks rattling around loose inside the units? I'd guess none.

I mean the shape of them, so that the components do get 'a little' (too) warm...

Bullshit!

Be honest, if any power supply isn't your treasured Cougar, it's almost second-rate, going by what you post at JonnyGuru at least.

I don't think seasonic makes an X12D, otherwise I would've got it! Their highest end and top of the line is the X750. They have a M12D and a S12D, which are 80 plus silver

Yes, but M12D and S12D are identical, except for the cable managment, so everyone of them is fine.

The X750 is something different, didn't mean that.

@Meghan54
I still prefer Seasonic over everything else, followed by Enhance, not Cougar...

You don't even need anything close to that.

If you want one though, the Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050W and the Corsair TX950 are very good.

Enermax is the better of the 2 and modular
the revo 85+ is the best PSU i have ever owned, quite happy with mine. had it since 5870 launch
