AU Optronics has a great track record of having VERY few dead pixels in their panels, but the default color adjustments leave lots to be desired. When the panel manufacturers ship these panels in "all-in-one" packages, they include the backlight, and even all the color electronics.
I have to agree!..... got my 20.1" Belinea 10 20 35W P-MVA monitor today, panel is AU Optronics ,colour was out, used the Spyder 2 Express to recalibrate the colours and the difference was noticeable even in DVI mode.
I only had one dead pixel at lower bottom centre, which you can only really see on pure black background ,so I can live with that.I was impressed with the quality of colours/blacks etc..and no noticable ghosting in gaming like TFC....
No real best LCD brand IMHO , as already stated you can get good and bad models from every brand plus different panel types etc.. then you have to add in the chance of getting dead pixels etc.. and you can see not so easy to pick one particular brand of TFT as the best.
My old Samsung 191T LCD had no dead pixels, but my new Belinea is a better monitor in every other way, which is no surprise, but due to newer technology and improvements in LCDs.
