What's it cost to get a straight shave at a barber?

I want to try getting a straight shave, and possibly start doing it myself. I was just curious what it might cost at a barber shop?

Good luck on it being legal. I've tried but apparently my state doesn't give licenses to people to shave anymore.

I doubt they took licenses away from the old timers

ahh fuck lol. went right over my head.

seriously though, anyone know?

It really depends - if I get it with my haircut, she charges me $8, along with beard shaping. Without the haircut it's $15 and she'll also trim up on my neckline.

18 bucks near me, at a barber in Northern VA. I got it done once and decided it really isn't for me... i'll stick to my mach turbo something or another

$15-100+ depending on the place. Also, keep in mind that many places that advertise a straight razor shave are really using a straight razor-shaped instrument that takes razor blades or cartridges (aka a shavette). I am not sure I would want to go to a random barber shop for a non-cartridge shave though - they basically would have to use an autoclave on the razor after each use. You'll want to call and ask what sort of sanitation practices they have if you want a real straight razor shave.

I go to a barber for a haircut and shave when I need my hair cut.

The haircut is $14, the shave is $15 and it's a real straight razor shave.

I got it done there once just before I got a straight razor myself. If you are planning on learning, I highly recommend getting a barber to do it for you first so you get used to the feeling and sound of a straight shave before you do it yourself.

Most states require a license to use a straight razor on the customer. Granted, not everyone listens - but if you look for a good, reputable barber (ask Arcadio, he loves to give reps) you should be fine.

If your name is "zanejohnson" that's a symptom.
