It's not how fast you type, it's what you type that counts. And seeing as we all post on AT, we all fail in that respect :p

Every time I've either interviewed for a job or done the interviewing, management has always asked for 40+ wpm (corrected). I don't understand where they get the number from, though. 40wpm is slower than snot. There's a guy in my lab who actually hunts and pecks with nothing but his index fingers  AND he's slow as hell at it!

The best I've done is 110 with no errors, but like someone said earlier it can't be done for longer than maybe a few minutes. If I can articulate what I'm trying to say, then it just flows naturally and I can do around 100/105 with a 98% accuracy, but most of the time it's more like 80. Still...faster than anyone I know.

Good typing speed apparently is over 45 wpm without errors?

on typingtest I believe my highest speed was mid/high 70s after adjusting for errors.

If you did a poll, you'd find that 95% of ATOT types at 100wpm or faster with 0 errors. If you could then somehow test their typing speeds and errors ensuring that they only took the test once, then I bet it would be about half that.

I couldn't remember what my typing speed was, so I went to http://www.typingtest.com/ and clicked Start Typing Test with the default 1-minute Astronauts test. I only took it once and got a net speed of 77wpm and an accuracy of 98%. That's better than I thought it would be, but I'm sure I'm the absolute slowest-typing member of ATOT :p.

60-80 WPM with 99% accuracy (I usually fix my mistakes as I make them) is normal for me. Fastest I've ever done on a typing test was 123. The one job I've gotten that required a minimum typing speed requried like 4500 characters per hour (data entry job (mostly copypasta)), which is dog slow.

My grandmother could type over 150 wpm. She could easily jamb the typewriter together. I am a paltry 120ish last time I was tested.

Around 80 wpm. I don't type the way they teach you to type however. I've always been faster just using two fingers.

36 -38 wpm for me on a test. Though I suck at reading and typing and I have to contiually look at the keyboard to type. If I type what's on my mind I can type a lot faster.

I can type 110wpm at 103% accuracy. I only mess up when I'm drunk. Which means when I do mess up, it falls to about 100%. Which means I never mess up.

I get about 60 - 70 on link removed, 85 on link removed, and vary between there on other sites. It all kind of depends on what you are typing.

For instance Monkey Type just displays a list of unrelated simple words while Speedy Fingers will display a paragraph form of text with punctuation. It will be more difficult to type the latter and thus you will likely have a lower score.

Self-promotion links not allowed.
