Why are you claiming it was THEIR mistake? YOU entered the incorrect data.
Now, having said that... on Monday, call the cc company again, and apologize to them, saying you made a mistake that resulted in a charge on your credit card, that you figured out what caused the problem ("I must have fat-fingered the account number when typing it onto your web site") and kindly and respectfully ask if there's any way they could credit that charge back to your account.
Being an ass on the phone does you no good. The person on the other end of the line has ALL the power in the conversation. Call up and be friendly, be polite, be apologetic, be humble, be good natured, and ASK in a nice way if the charge could be credited back. There's a good chance you can find someone who can say yes, if you use the correct approach.
Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
seriously a single digit worker has all the power today working for that wage in a big enterprise.
You cash out when you first ask them their name, company id, document the conversation..then tell them 'here's what you do suck my ... and charge me the $XX, email me your addy and I will send you a thank you note in 4-6weeks'
I miss a lot of opportunities...mostly due to freaking companies switching to internet...'Sorry, the website is not really accurate...'
