Don't know where else to post this. And since everyone here is fond of technology, I'd like to hear from the community. What do you say?

Budget? Likes/Dislikes? Size? Music library? Sound quality? Video?

As you can see, it's not very easy to answer your question.

As a general recommendation, I'd say Creative Vision:M. It's a great anti-iPod with very similar features, except it's bigger, but much better.

I really like Sandisk's recent flash based players. As for alternative Hard Disk players, im not quite sure.

I don't like ITunes either so I use the free version of Media Monkey.

FWIW I have an Iriver H320 and a couple Ipods and I use MM for all.

I really like the versatility of the Iriver and the ease of use of the Ipods.

Look, it's 1998 all over again! Wait, this topic was beaten to death even back then. Use search.. Check out c-net... Or learn how to use i-tunes.. it's not that hard - though this post was a nice way to admit that you're too much of an idiot to use a simple and streamlined UI such as the one in i-tunes...

MediaMonkey is great (I still use it for my Ipod shuffle), but I have really taken a shine to WMP11, it works great with my GigaBeat.

I just bought a Sandisk 4gb player. The interface is extremely easy to use, you get more features (fm tuner, micro-sd expansion, video capable) in nano size package for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend the Sandisk!

Wow, thanks freedomsbeat212. Check my post count. Noob here. Don't need to kill me over it.

Thank you to the others though for helping.

Basically I have a $200 budget. Looking for a nice 4GB to use when I go to the gym. Something that can be used with an arm band holder.

It was also a good way to get people like you to show how much of an ass they are, too.

And there weren't any Ipods in 1998. Nor any other widely-known MP3 players, either.

If you are going to be using this at the gym, you definitely want a Flash based player. Your best choices in this area are the Ipod Nano, or a Sandisk flash based player. The Sandisk Sansa e260 is on sale at Bestbuy this week for $159. It is 4gb and has a SD expansion slot. Check it out here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp...p=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1138087124232

the M-Cody M25, and SanDisks's e280 are among the best players out there in terms of features and design. Both of them are the size of an Ipod Nano, but come with fm-stereo, voice recording, USB Mass Storage Capabilities (doesn't require Itunes), the m25 has Line-In recording, microSD expansion slot, and both can view videos and photos. The e280 tops out at 8 gb of flash memory, while adding a 2 gb card gives you 10 gigs- the most available for any flash player on the market. The m25 is only available in 4 gb, not including expansion, but it has the most sexy interface of any player, with blue illuminated touch buttons on a completely smooth black glossy surface.

I like the Sandisk Sansa e260 4GB MP3 player. Similar size to the iPod nano w/ option to expand memory later using flash memory. I might get it from Costco if they sell it and give it a try.

Looks like I can store 50+ MP3 albums on the e260. That's pretty good.

I actually didn't think Itunes had that great of an interface? Is it only me? I just want a way to shove mp3s onto the mp3 player. Not some fancy library/music player/ogranizer/etc.

I sense another YAGT thread from freedomsbeat212 soon. Sounding awfully agitated.

that's what i use it for. plug in ipod, wait for 30 seconds, drag folder, done. itunes can be whatever you want it to be.

Yeah, the new Sansa's from Sandisk are pretty impressive...and they should have some Rockbox firmwares somewhere down the line.

I love iTunes, but I still agree the iPod is a ripoff. I guess Dell used to make a good one, but I hate the MusicMatch software. Get one that lets you use it as a USB drive without add-in software that sucks.

Edit: I no longer own an MP3 player, and I still love iTunes.
