Actually I wasn't, but your edits after the fact might make it seem so. I notice that I might need to wait a while to reply to you, as you like to add to what you originally post. I do that too, but mainly to correct grammatical or code parsing errors.

People that try to jump your back while posting in P&N in general just to try to not make a thought out reply are a bit dubious and just spewing in my experiences in the past.

I'm not referring to you, just some people in general.

I prefer shooting for quality over quantity.

But I ni also.

Yeah, imagine if he grows the economy at over 3%, it will be terrible.

This is the new right wing meme, suddenly we love statistics! Let's ignore the mess Obama had to deal with when he took office, and let's focus on meaningless historical data instead of what a president can actually impact, say a huge crisis, versus an 18 trillion dollar economy where he has almost no impact.

We're about due for a recession though.

We're almost 10 trillion dollars further in debt. Don't you recall the "recovery summer" touted by the Obama administration in 2010? Yeah, the one that never happened?

Give it a year or two, Trump has just taken office and will busy deregulating everything awhile.

If you really cared about the economy (you don't) then Trump would've been the absolute last candidate to vote for.

Ergo, add $7 trillion dollars more in debt with your kiddie president. Obama got you out of the GFC by spending, Trump will get you into another GFC.

As far as needing a "clear existential threat to help justify our gargantuan defense expenditures", perhaps you missed the part where Bush I and Clinton together reduced the American military by half because the Cold War was over.
It's tough to reason with people that live in a world fabricated within their minds based on huge doses of fantasy in which everyone in the world loves one another and wishes nothing but the best for their fellow man. A world where everyone gets along and shares everything they have.

Somehow they think that if a nation adopts that posture that the world will respond in kind. They are oblivious to the fact than human beings are still tribal people with very strong desires for both conquest and survival. We're doing a fairly good job dealing with the conquest part (radical Islam is the exception) but the survival aspect has us just one disaster away from anarchy.

Until mankind is exploring other planets wearing funny clothing and not requiring any form of compensation, we're all essentially still at war with each other and defense is highly important. The cart, it can't come before the horse.

Oh, and even in that utopian scenario, defense will still be highly important because the little green men we encounter may be having a bad day.

Trump will tell you that its great and to love it.
Some things never change, eh? What do you think the equivalent of "If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor" will be? And if I believe just as you believed, will you hold it against me? Will your faith have been rooted in logic and mine in worship of a false idol?

Interesting questions with roots embedded in human nature.

Brother we both know that politicians will say anything to get elected irrespective of their party affiliation. I watched snippet of an interview with the Washington Post where Trump on this, which was included in a Stephen Colbert skit where Donald was asked this question, and he actually stated that he would tell Americans when it was great again. Go to the 1:27 mark to hear the question and answer.

Bloomberg has an article up on his promises vs reality and the business climate in this country will not produce the effect that the working poor believe he can deliver. Trump doesn't want to increase the minimum wage either so unless they go to school they are going to be trapped at the lower wage bracket. The Washington Post has a list of his campaign promises just in case anyone wishes to keep track of them all. He wants to gut the Department of Education but education is what this country needs to propel our workers into this century and beyond. While the rest of the world is getting smarter our people are dumbing down.

I think the first thing he should do is repeal the individual mandate - just in time for tax season! :)

And destroy the insurance market by doing so. Don't forget that part. Since I want the private insurance industry to simply cease to exist, this works for me. One giant leap toward a single payer system.

IIRC you are Canadian. Why would you care either way?

So you've got nothing in regards to Trump's economic policies? Well have fun acting like a manchild and diverting into irrelevant topics when you can't back yourself up.
I was making fun of you trying to make the claim that I don't care about the economy."(you don't)" It's just such a pompous lefty thing to say that I got a chuckle out of it and decided to pull your chain a bit.

Eh, so you're alright with that extra $10 tril debt? No worries, you've already proven me right.

i'd like to see that Russian video on liveleak.
They're probably male prostitutes.:p Now if Trump actually removes us form these global trade agreements that are allowing companies to cheaply offshore then the landscape of our employment for the uneducated will change for the better. As much as I hate to admit it I'll support him for another term if he can do this.

Emergent terminal illness.

<snip>
Obviously, I gave you a silly response, because it sure looked to me like you are hoping something happens to our President. I may not like or agree with someone, but I wouldn't wish death on them, as your comment seems to. I apologize if my earlier comment came across as a threat. It wasn't.

I would like to see the passage and signing of the Hearing Protection Act, a nice pro-gun justice confirmed to the supreme court, and so many new pro-gun bills and executive orders shoved down the throat of Bloomberg, the snowflakes at moms demand action and the brady campaign so they choke. I am hoping that at the very least, the gun control movement gets set back several decades at minimum.
