say you had 60 billion dollars what would you do with if you knew you were going to die in one month? assuming you have children also, would you split it evenly? or donate it to the community? or both? or whatever? 😀
 
anything you do is going to get you criticized by both sides anyway 🙁 But personally I'd do both 🙂

Take a trip to space, bring my family, then have myself frozen and my body ejected to another galaxy 🙂 🙂
 
There's no way I could do everything I've wanted to do in a month. But, if I had $60 billion, here's some of the stuff I'd do:
Travel to as many countries as possible.
Drive a very very fast car at least once.
Hire the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to play all my favorite songs.
Buy all the books I've been wanting to read.

Beyond that, I'd use the rest of the money to make as many people as I can as happy as possible.
 
travel with my family all over the world. basically wouldnt hesitate to buy or hire anything/anyone to do whatever i want to do. then id give the rest to my friends and family, so that they may be happy for the rest of time
 
1) Hire private tutors for my daughters and spend as much time with them as possible...imparting as much wisdom as I can muster. And videotape myself for them to remember me (like that movie with Michael Keaton)
2) Buy Bill Gates a haircut
3) Give a chunk to Berkeley to keep the SETI bandwidth flowing 😉
4) Buyout all of the trash TV talk shows and "reality" shows to get that crap off the air
5) Give a big chunk to www.prp.org to keep the only radio stations I listen to going for a long time to come
6) Buy Alec Baldwin that plane ticket out of the country (that dmned, egotistical pr*ck)
7) Travel to Mt. Everest base camp with the family for a week (and hike as far as the Khumbu icefall - I've no desire to actual enter it)
8) Take the family to see Machu Pichu and then Paris and then back home (which will be a very nice new house complete with maids, chefs, etc.)
9) Rent the Pacific Coast Highway (and a Ferrari F50) for two days all to myself!
10) And, finally, buy everyone here an Anandtech subscription 😀

But seriously, I'd throw one of the biggest parties the world has ever seen. I'd blow probably about $50 billion on the party. There would definitely be bands there, I'd hire every band that could get there in the month. I'd have the party be the entire month, there'd be a catering service making everything that a good BBQ has. Budwiser would have a new truck there every day.
