As I understand the social rules of hetero-homo interactions: if he was there first, it is your duty to be the b1tch and ask to receive the butt sex. If you were there first, you can either administer the butt sex or defer until the second half. ;)

OK, but I think MYOGDB still applies. I don't see the issue other than the possibility of insecurity on your part. If it's that big of a deal then use the stall.

Out of curiousity, would you say a woman is just having insecurity issues if they disliked the idea of men being in the same bathroom as them?

Irrelevant. We're talking about a same sex bathroom. Would you say a man is having insecurity issues if they disliked a giraffe being in the same bathroom as them?

Hence the question of whether bathrooms are split due to the mutual attraction that men and women generally have for each other or is it just a cultural occurrence or if neither of those, what's the reason? Are giraffe's sexually attracted to men? Are men sexually attracted to women? Are gay men sexually attracted to men?

I am not participating in this tangent, I have merely been responding to the question in the OP, which involves a man being in a men's room. I understand what you're getting at, but it's a Men's Room, not an "Attracted to Women" room.

Like I said, I'm not trying to argue with anyone. I'm just trying to understand why a "Men's Room" is a men's room when there have obviously been co-ed bathrooms throughout society and if it's because of sexual reasons, then the application to gay men would be similar. Hell, I say remove all barriers. Men and women regardless of sexual orientation shall all share one large restroom.

I wonder what's the historical reason for having split bathrooms between men and women. I know that UCLA had co-ed bathrooms in the dorms but why is it that once you're out of college that co-ed bathrooms become more and more taboo? Is the split up due to men being attracted to women or is it due to men and women having different bathroom needs?

I was wondering about his myself. Possibilities:

1) I don't know about you, but a woman would lose some of her sex appeal in my eyes if I sat next to her in the bathroom when she was taking a big crap. We can call this the "preserving the mystique" option. I like this option, most women I know (with a few entertaining exceptions) like to pretend that they never poop at all.
2) Historically, any thoughts about the genitals of the opposite sex were discouraged. Genital-related things happen in bathrooms. Therefore, separate bathrooms were necessary.

1) I can agree with that.
2) Same here...

For reason number 2, it would seem that the reason for discouraging thoughts of the genitalia of the opposite sex would be to discourage sexual thoughts from manifesting rampantly. Would this not apply to a gay man whose sexual preference is towards men? All of this is theoretical, by the way, I'm just curious to understand where our standards come from whether they're legitimate or not.

Again, Point.

I am guessing there are a lot of assumptions as to that a gay men in a men's bathroom will have more control over sexual thoughts than a woman would? Is that where you're getting at? If they didn't, what's the point of separating the bathrooms for anyone.

Dude, quit already, if you can dig up that thread I did say I saw bits and pieces of it, enough to know the storyline, the characters, etc... That constitutes seeing enough to hate it. Quit trolling already.

That would be your hate for Harry Potter eh?

All of the females I know say that women are by far nastier in the bathroom than men. I've heard horror stories of tampons on the counters, floor, really anywhere but the toilet. As for the toilet, most women are squatters (this all applies to public restrooms mind you), so most of the time there's piss all over the floor and seat.....and to think they bitch because we leave the seat up!

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't care to share a bathroom with a woman.

What's the old saying.....don't sh1t where (with what) you eat? :p

I understand but I do not agree about the one large restroom. Men and women have different functional parts and I think its appropriate that they do their business separately, for this reason. Furthermore, I think bathroom time is private time, and I'd rather be all by myself than share space with anyone, be it man, woman or gay/lesbian.

Pretty much. I chalk it up to a nuance in our society.

I guess we should all go down to single toilet bathrooms. Like gas stations. If it's occupied, come back later.

Or at least closed off stalls that are basically their own little room. I saw those in an airport in Europe, don't remember what city though.

Perhaps you'd be more comfortable if you had a wingman (or lover :Q) during your bathroom break?

I think it gives a whole new meaning to the term "battlesh*ts," for those who have seen Harold & Kumar...

What would you do in that situation, walk out? Think of this in the same sense that if the person was a female (yeah yeah, here comes all the "I'd let her hold it" replies), would that be politically correct?

EDIT I had to put that here after so many people misread what I said in the OP and took this to a whole different level of intepretation.

Of course I did my bitniz, I'm not that homophobic. But my question was the political correctness of this, because after all, this is a very PC world that we live in.

Seems like ATOT always take a turn for the worst.

EDIT 2
It's a fvcking question to you guys that are reading this thread, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Quit jumping to conclusions.

A question of Gay dating etiquette? Exchange pats on the butt and phone#.
