8k wouldn't buy a whole lot of land.

I'm not talking about land down the street from you, I'm talking about land in some of the most remote parts of your state. Doing a quick search for New York state I found 5.9 acres of land for $4500 over by the finger lakes. That's maybe 3 hour drive from my house. That's plenty of land to fool around with :)

I remember one time finding some pretty damn large plots of land in northern Maine for under $10k

I thought it was a straight factorial. 16!

all/all/all is like boxing every horse with every other horse. If you box 3 horse it is 6 times bet - 3! Box 4 horses and it is 4! or 24 times bet, box 5 - 5! you get the picture.

I could be off though.

If you're planning to live in your home for 5+ yrs, then it's time to make it more cozy. A nice wood deck? Redesign your bathroom/kitchen? In terms of investment, it could make selling your home quicker?

Not on the isle of Manhattan definitely, but probably quite a bit in west Texas...

Invest it. In fact I plan to have $8k to invest fairly soon, hopefully I don't lose it all. :p

I'm surprised no one has asked,

How do you just come up with an extra 8k?

I've never really considered any money to be extra.

8k doesn't do much any more. Now it's all about the gigabytes. The old 8-bit computers used 8k, but now the avg calculator uses more than that.

/wink

Trifecta is only the first 3 so your doing permutations where there are only 3 holes for the first 3 positions.
A 3 horse box is $6, a 4 horse box is $24, a 5 horse box is $60, and a 6 horse box is $120. so forumla is P(# of horses,3) = #of horses ! / (#of horses=-3)!
so an ALL/ALL/ALL bet would be (saying there are 20 horses in field which their usually are):
So P(20,3)=20!/17!
20x19x18= 6840
