TB's used to be hard to get, not nearly every home can have one.

I have several at work and one at the house.

It's not as gratifying as I thought it would be.

You can download raw miniDV tapes as AVI files? How do you do this? My dad has been trying for a while to figure out how to do this on his DV camcorder so that he can choose his own encoding and stuff.

I say install every freaking game you MIGHT play. After that, backing up music in lossless, and some pr0n for good measure and you should be all out of space!

You need a video capturing program with a DV codec, such as the MS DV codec. Any NLE will do it (Premiere, Vegas, Final Cut, etc.).

LOL p0rn is the best answer, by far!!

I've already got 1Tb now in my file server, plus at least another half or so in the various computers around the house, and use it for all sorts of stuff. Mostly cuz I got tired of spending time & $$$ on burning cd's every couple months, so I could clear out room on my hard drive(s). Shoot it to the file server now, and then burn dvd's when I get a sufficient amount to make it worthwhile. :D

Start capturing TV shows in better quality
Re-rip my CD collection to a lossless format
Serve DVDs across the network so I don't have to keep making backups for the kids to ruin
