Why not a childrens book on a man with 6 wives and his 25 children?

We can call it Driving Mrs Daisy, Paulie, Joanne, Sarah, Veronica and Janet

Sorry but homosexuality does not belong in a children's book

Care to explain why not?

I guess blacks don't belong in children's books either then?

If my daughter brought home that book, I wouldn't mind. I'd take the opportunity to remind her that it's just such things like this that make all boys horrible and that she should be sure to stay away from them until I pick out the right husband for her.

Oh and this is from the town I grew up in Wilmingotn NC. The same town that made national news when the teacher had the word niggardly on a spelling test, when Steve bushinea(sp?) got stabbed, some army/marines/military guys beat up a gay guy after THEY went into the wrong club, etc?.

These parents are idiots.
Whats wrong with niggardly? That was in my standardized high school vocabulary book.

I think I would just panic, scream and yell, and randomly throw inanimate objects. Then I would pray to Almighty G-D and request H-s guidance during this difficult time.

Then I would come back down to reality and realize that it's not THAT big a deal. Kids are resilient.

Theres nothing wrong, that was my point. Its seems like every time Wiomingotn is in the news it is for some dumb biggot or dumb redneck that makes everybody look bad.

The word is fine but a Black mom thought it was bad.

Nothing, except that it offends stupid liberals who are too dumb to use a dictionary.

What does the color of a person's skin have to do with this discussion?

Bingo. I am an agnostic.

sounds like the rights of the parents are being trampled upon.....if they don't want their child to read such a book then that is their decision seeing as how the child is a minor...

what is the saying? your moral beliefs end where my rights begin?..the parents have every right not to expose their child to this type of material....

personally I cannot believe they wrote a book that deals with such a subject intended for children so young...

Personally, I wouldn't reeact the way those parents did.... Its not like the book depicted the gay princes having sex out of wedlock.
Word. I never inquired to the details after Cinderella got married to the Prince, so I don't imagine this would be a big deal either.

?

So you have the right to have a public school library conform to your beliefs, but not to mine - which would be fine with a book like this? Or should we just get rid of all books that could be remotely percieved as immoral?

Never said that, I simply said your moral beliefs end where my rights begin....the parents have every right to shelter their kid from this type of material if they so choose to....

the only real solution would be to take books dealing with any controversial topic out of the system 🙂

maybe they should flag books that require parental permission before they are removed from the library by children? much like movies and what not?

Does the concept of polygamous relationships belong in kids books?

How bout promiscuity? We can call it "Who's yo Daddy?, don't ask me cause I don't know"

Why isn't there crossdressing GI Joe's available in the store?

Imagine if a book got printed a hundred years ago about a black man marrying a white woman

That's completely different than homosexuality. It's acceptable and moral.

It wasn't not that long ago in some areas.

Homosexuality is a sexual preference, racism is a personal form of bigotry. Sexual preference does not belong in childrens stories.

The point he was trying to make was that 50 years ago, there were LAWS in this country against that practice. LAWS.

Try to connect point A to point B.

Why should I have to explain to my 6 y/o kid why men want to have sex with one another?

Why shouldn't you?

It is not your decision to make. The decision belongs to the parents.

No since they don't believe in it, their children should remain ignorant about the world around them
rolleye.gif

Who said anything about the children being ignorant. We're talking about parents rights. We do NOT have the right to tell parents how to raise their children.
