She obviously regrets it, but you need to know if she'd pull something like that again. And if she would, or you think she might, I'd probably bail. It's just not acceptable.

I know all the "hard asses" in here are like..."break it off!" because if we hit a female ONCE, it would be over. so why should we allow it to happen twice? :x

My answer, except I would let it go once. I'd let her know that it could never happen again, no matter what the circumstances. She does it again, she's gone, period.

nobody is saying he should have hauled off and hit her (well im sure some are not jokeing about it). But there is NO reason for her to slap him. They both look like fools. HIm for being rude enough to get slapped and her for slapping him. But then he looks even worse because he will not do anything about it.

If he was really the type of guy he is claiming he would'nt have had a problem telling her NOT to do that again and if she does she is gone. I wouldnt give her a 2nd chance (though i would'nt have said anything so rude i got her mad enough to slap me) once a person thinks they can get away with physical (or mental) abuse it continues and gets worse.

Personally i am suprised it has lasted 5 years usually such relationships die pretty fast.

Dude, it's not a big deal. You were all drunk, she was on meds, and she did what women do when they are indignant and get insulted. According to you, saying she is bad in bed in front of a group of friends is not that bad and a normal joke for you. If so, after 5 years you probably deserved a little slap. Big deal. None of us is perfect. She apologized after thinking about it for a bit. Now the shoe is on the other foot and you have been "dissed" in front of your friends. The same way she felt right before the smacked you.

I'm sure your coworkers are messing around with you, but I bet most of them think it's no big deal as well. People like to talk a lot of trash about others lives, but I bet most of them would never even say what you said because a lot worse than a play slap would happen. Just tell them a good joke is worth a little slap once in a while.

The bottom line is... you demeaning your gal in front of everyone and her slapping you lightly is the same thing. She lost her woman card because you told people she can't keep you happy, and you lost your man card when she checked you. Don't blow this up into something that it isn't.

I realize that some folks here have seen/experienced abuse and I'm not making light of that in any way. But that is not what happenned here. If a play slap is the only thing in a 5 year relationship, and she felt bad afterwards, don't worry too much about it.

Though I respect you for having that "no hitting women" rule, you are too much of a wimp. They are right, once they hit you, it's over.
