Sock it in savings, use it to pay off the snowblower after the 12 months no interest.

I heard about that possibly being part of the stimulus package.

I'd save most of it. The rest would be spent on gas for my car, Wii game(s) and two Wiimotes, DVDs, and some CDs.

If so, that's not being given to you from the government. That's the government repaying you for the zero-interest loan you gave them over the course of the last year.

No shit.
I would be more impressed if they could give back the billions and billions they dumped into the Big Sandbox and put it in our schools.

If this is anything like the $300 LOAN we got last time I would just bank it.

That really ticked me off that we had that $300 so-called rebate deducted from our tax returns last time.

We'd be more confident about a Spring Break trip and would probably change our plans to Europe or something.

Most all of the governments money is our money. =p

My point being that if I paid that in taxes, it was indeed my money already. But if you are getting $1600 after paying less than that in taxes, it's not your money. Someone else is subsidizing you, which is bullshit.

Which is pretty nice of him, because they need it. Better to borrow from Americans than China, right? ;)

this isn't your normal tax refund, this is your special "the govt. it going to stop a recession by giving people money to spend" refund

you'll still get your tax refund when you file

Your money has most likely already been spent. The money you will be getting is either borrowed or printed. Either way, it's going to get paid back whether it be your children or inflation.

For us, it'll cover the cost of one month's mortgage and utilities . . . Or I could buy lots of cheap Chinese-made goods :D

smart people would invest it, but I personally would go and take a cruise!

I'd probably save it. Although I'll be moving into my first non-college apartment in a few months, and it would be nice to have that money to buy things.

When would such a stimulus package be put in place and checks distributed?

Bush just put out an 'economic stimulus proposal' a few hours ago. It still has to be passed by Congress. It is like the other 'Tax Rebate' thing the feds did a few years ago.
