It seems your avoiding the answer in which I have given you- sox.

I said that you have failed to provide us with one adequate example of how people have been preaching in an unrelated topic. Your suicide thread was a miserable example because obviously it was related, AND on top of that the original poster expressed that he was religious atleast in some aspect.

Interesting.

The original poster already realized this Im sure. Besides he started a discussion about it. Other people were talking about suicide and how it was wrong, what would happen, etc... Why is it so different for someone religious to say what they think?

Its more like if your in a situation where there's a really hot girl, but she's really drunk. WWJD? You think, nah he wouldn't do this. This is wrong. Don't take advantage of the girl. Something along those lines, not what should I eat for dinner.

Well, I think jesus wouldn't be getting any play at all, so assuming christians want to procreate at some point and maintain their population, it's kinda moot. Anyway, what would jesus do is a bunch of silliness. If you want to be altrusitic ask what would keauna reaves do? Jesus isn't all that contemporary anymore.

I disagree, I think the comment was inapropriate, albiet a weak example. I'll try to dig some stuff up if that's in question. I had assumed most members had been exposed to a sufficent amount of "examples" to forego a search.

Don't bother trying. Your wrong. The only reason anyone would "preach" as you call it, is because it was brought up in discussion somehow. No one is going to go into a thread that says "Which is better 9500 Pro or 5800?" and say "God loves you, don't buy computer hardware yadaydayda"

It just doesn't happen, and if it does Ill concede that the person is a bit off the deep end. But like I said before, that doesn't really happen.

I dunno, why do people feel the need to post about their lack of religious beliefs on a computer hardware forum? Obviously the only difference between you and them is the directions you take. Maybe next time you should entitle your thread "what would hypocrites do".
Don't let your zeal cloud your judgement. Nowhere in my post was this about my lack of faith, but rather the need for others to project theirs in seemingly unrelated discussions.

Nowhere in your post was anything about your lack of faith? Oh, so you sign everything "your agnostic friend"? Makes sense. And as far as my "zeal" obviously you're just talking out your ass. Religious fervor is the last thing you could accuse me of having. You're speaking to someone who's been to church once in the last year or two and only then because my mother requested it for mothers day. So no, my post has nothing to do with my "zeal" but rather how annoying hypocrites are. Nice try though.
...this about my lack of faith.

You're not understanding. "this" being the focus of my post. You're taking a minor portion of my post, where I declare my personal stance, and making it something it's not.

This is a forum of "science," (computers) where analytical thinking prevails. To make arguements using no logical proof or material evidence (faith) simply derails and sometimes offends.

My non-hypocritical question was simple:

Why is it that many people feel the need to share the gospel at a "computer hardware discussion forum?"

And? Honestly, who the hell is so pathetic as to be offended by a persons beliefs as long as they're not harmful to others? Also try looking at it from the other side of the coin. I'm sure if there are people out there who get offended by someones beliefs there are others who get offended by peoples lack of beliefs or bashing of said beliefs. As soon as you'd like to make a point that's not completely hypocritical I'm more than happy listen but as it stands you only seem to look at an issue from your limited perspective. If making weak arguments is your thing then by all means, have at it. Just understand that they're a little lacking.

Also, you'd be hard pressed to convice me and many others that analytical thinking is somthing a message board can ever be accused of.
I'm not here to convince you of anything. I came with a simple question that you've avoided in favor of crying hypocrite.

The only thing lacking here is you.

Do us all a favor and try sticking to things you say. You said nothing about saying a person is going to hell can offend others. In case you're unable to find this in your posts you said that making arguments based on faith offends some people which is a much more all inclusive. If you'd like to speak to a specific instance please say so before hand instead of trying to spin my comments after the fact.

As far as me crying hypocrite: You dislike people preaching about religion yet you make a thread preaching that people should leave religion out of things. You say people get offended by faith yet fail to realize that people can also be offended by lack of faith. So where exactly am I wrong?

How can people be offended by a lack of faith unless it's thrust upon them by those that ridicule their own?

I'm quite linear in my assertions, I don't think you're understanding them as intended or written.

By your new logic I should append god bless my radeon 9700? to my sig file, or fear shall beset me..

I don't even need to go yet to explain though. Homosexuality is a major topic discussed amongst Christian/Non-Christians. Reason being is Christians are opposed to it, no matter what. Non-Christians believe other random stuff. Its obviously something that could easily have a religious side to it.

In your first post you made it sound like people were going into threads about cars, or foods, or stores and preaching the Lords word. Lets see some of those examples?

The first post in that thread that brings Christianity into the thread says this...

"I hate to bring Christianity into this thread (actually I want to, but some of you are going to be upset), but it is due to sin. God says homosexuality is wrong, so Satan tempts people into thinking that they like people of the same sex. It is the same reason we have all bad things in this world, it is due to sin. "

As you can see he has a valid point. He's belief is that homosexuality is caused by temptation from the devil. Just as valid an opinion as it being biological or a learned trait. So why do you have a problem with that sox?

I honestly see quite a few threads where religion has not been brought up but someone takes a swipe at it because it's in some vaguely distant way related to the topic at hand. Not to mention the fact I've seen more than a handful of sigs that take a shot at religion though I've yet to see one preachy sig. I can't think of any recent examples and my 56k is way too slow to go searching so I'll just start pm'ing you links from now on as I stumble across them :p

The bible is so ambiguous as to relate it to anything you'd like. And if you read the rest of the thread you'll experience the fantasmic results.

I answered your question, you just don't like my answer. You have still failed to show an adequate example of how religion has been brought into a thread that wasn't concerning it. However many people have pointed out how anti-religion people seem to ALWAYS want to take a swipe at religion in anyway they can. Kind of a double standard, dont you think?

Ya know if there is one thing I have noticed about ATOT its that the cool thing to do is be a hypocrite.
