You sure it wasn't just like dirty car oil spilling over your eyes? J/k.

For proof, He'd have to appear somewhere and start smiting the sinners. Smite them, o might smiter (not me please).

Religion has always been used to explain the unexplainable.

The thing is, what was unexplainable 2,000 years ago is explainable today. We no longer need religion to explain things, like how life started.

There is much more to religion than just that, such as the teaching of values, lessons and morals. There is nothing wrong with that, but you musn't get the two mixed up. You don't have to be religious to be a moral person with values.

The question of if there is a god or not is not mankind's greatest mystery. In fact, most humans already know what happens after death.

Do they "know" or do they "THINK they know" without any doubt.

Know is overused, believe or think would be better words.

The majority of mankind is dead. Literally.

If you could explain to me what salt tastes then you may understand how I believe in God. Basically, you can't describe it. You just know. The fact is, you can't prove God doesn't exist anymore than you can prove that He does. If someone can talk you into it, someone can talk you out of it. But I do believe in God.

Hmm..

Interesting.

This is one area that I've yet to come to any real conclusions on. I mean, how can you? .. the only thing you have is anecdotal evidence from people who have had the so called "near death experience".

And I've heard some crazy sh!t.. from both sides of the heavn/hell thing. I think this is the first time I've ever heard that there is just "nothing", but then again that doesen't really mean much since I don't go around looking for NDE stories.

Actually, what I have come to believe is .. you create your own "heaven" or "hell". Not really sure how to explain that. Whatever you believe is how it is, or something.

There's a lot we don't know yet. We've got all the "you can see it" things covered, but what about things that you can't see, like conciousness? Do you think we'll ever be able to "study" those things? What if "conciousness" is a form of energy, and had the same or similar physics laws apply to it? That could mean that "conciousness" isn't created nor destroyed, it only changes forms...

That's a pretty bizzare concept.

Here's my view point, we are nothing but biological infestations inhabiting this planet, you die and that's it.

Does every other living thing on this planet meet God when it dies or does God only see living organisms with a supposed soul ?

Why hello God, this is me, Mr. bacteria, how are you today ?

Edit;

This is my view of the world, please do not take this as an insult to all those who do believe in God :)

Even if "GOD" got on national TV and did local appearances, you'd still have a high minority claiming it a farce.

The trick is what religion(s) will get claim as valid. Those on the hellbound end will deny him as the true prophet.

What Would It Take to Prove the Existence of a God?
There are many ways to answer this. Personally I feel that God has already proven his existence to me. Not in any cataclysmic event, but through numerous small "miracles" that I see every day.

If "to most people" were added to the end of the question, then I think God would need to provide objective evidence that he exists. But, I can't think of what that evidence would be. God isn't an object like a stone that you can weigh and measure and drop.

If "to everyone" were added to the end of the quetion, then I think God would have to take away free will. No matter what arguments you use or how indisputable the facts, you can always find someone who genuinely disagrees with something. God would need to take away free will to make everyone believe in him.

What caused you to believe? Were you raised in a religious family?
Yes I was raised in a religious family, and that's how I came to believe. But, now that I am an adult, I continue to believe. My experience in life reinforces my faith even though I recognize that all evidence I could point to is subjective in nature.

Waiting for a sign from God defeates the purpose of him telling you to have "Faith" faith is belieiving something is there when you dont have any hard evidence.

Jesus told the apostles they were the unlucky ones, because they didnt require faith, they saw the miracles with thier own eyes, therefore had it easy, and wont be rewarded nearly as much in heaven as someone who never met jesus or a saint but truly believes anyways.

I guess you could say its kinda like betting on the Super Bowl, having faith in a team before they win can win you a lot of money, but trying to place a wager after you have the proof that they won will get you nowhere, get it?

We live, we die and that's it, why do we need to think that we are so fvcking special, that there is something more than that, does it even matter?

Fear of death.

This is another thing i don't get, why do people fear death, i mean a painful death would be bad but death in itself?

I dunno but if god comes here, he better bring one goddamned great cheesecake.

To prove the existance of a 'god'
1. a 'god' would need to exist.
2. the 'god' would need to de things that are man has proven to be 100% possible.
3 at least 2 independant proven impossible actions would need te be performed by this 'god' and recorded by multiple non-biased witnesses and modern technology. These need to be things that are against the laws of physics, just doing things that humans do not understand does not qualify.

I am pretty sure that it will NEVER be proven as none of these criteria appear to be met.
