What would happen if you drove away while a parking cop/meter maid was writting you a ticket?

Does the ticket need to make it to your windsheild to be valid?

Just wondering cause one time, I saw a parking enforcement cop sitting in one
of their electric car things writting me a ticket as I was going out to my vehicle
(company van) ... I just jumped in as fast as I could and bolted out of there.
I could see the cop jump out and try to flag me to stop but I kept going.

I never heard anything more about it ... but my work wouldn't really know who was
driving it if they were contacted way later...

So I imagine either the cop didn't get the plate # yet(?)
or they can't do anything about it cause they have to put the ticket on the windshield(?)
or they sent something to my company but I never heard anything about it.

LOL... Somehow, I doubt that would go over well.

Doesn't sound like they were an actual cop.

If someone drove off while I'd was writing them for something we'd be having a little pursuit. They'd get to peer down the barrel of my Glock and would have a bed with their name on it at the county jail.

Well .. I'm sure they're actual cops, I've seen them in uniform... only difference
is a parking enforcement patch on the sleeve ... but it would be kinda hard to chase a van with a golf cart .

Hmm... one of those parking "cops" tried to ticket me for a doing ans incomplete top at a stop sign. The only reason she got me was because I parked right after the stop sign. I explained to her that she doesnt have the jurisdiction to ticket me, so she left. Weird experience, still doesnt make sense.

Just pointing out procedure. Driving off = fleeing.

And they are carrying firearms?

"Meter maids" != cops. That doesn't mean we can't write parking tickets.

Don't you know, Bradruth is all cops.

I don't know any, nor can I imagine any, sworn officers that would allow someone to drive off like that. As I said above it is akin to fleeing, which warrants a serious response.

I just think your response was a little severe.... it could be argued that if you have not spoken to them, have not said anything, or made a gesture to them, that they would not have to assume you were about to write a ticket for their car....

but it would be pretty funny to see a go cart chasing after a van ;)

If they stopped immediately after seeing my lights on them it would be different, but I'm assuming they're actively fleeing if they "bolted out of there." The only people who drive those little cars here are community service officers, NOT cops. They're unarmed and do stuff like writing parking tickets and catching stray animals.

Well, I probably wouldn't have "bolted out of there" if I saw a badass cop
like Clint Eastwood or you back there
in a real cop car.

Nothing, you're golden!!

Unless she got your license plate and/or VIN, you're good!

As for cops in general.........I seriously wish they'd lay off all this traffic crap!!! It's about the only way they can get much done anymore.

I, personally, want CRIME handled!!!!

Forget this radar gun crap and rolling stops, etc. etc...........GET THE FRIGGIN' GANG BANGERS, THIEVES, ETC.!!!!!!!!!!

don't mind him. This is a cop that also refuses to apologize after pulling over the wrong person.

but he is right. fleeing is not a smart thing to do. good way to end up in jail for a ticket.
