Very different scenario. Japan is a perfect staging point for a North Korea campaign if it comes to that. But PRC invading Canada or Mexico is just not possible. Maybe if they buy Mexico and then send them north, but that is the only way that would not end in a total clusterfuck over the sea. I am sure all Chinese ports have satellites sitting over them. Kindda hard to hide troops.

Even say you managed to establish a beachhead. Your supply line can be cut off by the Phillipine Navy for crying out loud.

No, they COULDN'T. They don't have the naval or airlift capability to project power. Mexico is a shithole, but anyone would want Canada, they're a huge treasure trove of natural resources. The only reason they have not been conquered is us protecting them.

America would come in full force to aid any neighboring nation from the dominance of another super power, whether it be Cuba, Canada, Mexico, South America, etc. Hopefully Obama wouldn't let them get a staging area for an attack on our coasts.

The Monroe Doctrine isn't really all that alive these days in its original purpose.
It was drafted during a time when that was a hot issue, and Spain just lost a few islands to independence, and given how European countries loved to have territory over in the Caribbean and surrounding area, we didn't want to see that happen any more.

But now, the Monroe Doctrine has basically just been applied to the world, with the U.N. overwatching. Countries taking over other countries for permanent control is something most of the developed world doesn't want to see happen any more, and may be the reason for future conflict.

The Monroe Doctrine included all of North and South America. Also, you are thinking of Central America, not Latin America. Argentina is a part of Latin America.
