I would say that giving the opportunity of the Al Quaeda escape by not providing ANY backup in the beginning and then invading with a miniscule force because they KNEW what they REALLY wanted to do was a betrayal of every American and Brit and every other nation who actually thought GW meant business when we went to Afghanistan.

We could have rid the world of Talibans and Al Quaeda in months if we had the troops and the backup Iraq had, but that was unimportant, the war needed to spread, the threat needed to spread when there were no WMD's, so troops would be needed to fight the terrorists.
