There are many threads going on - mostly bashing Gore (by Republicans, no doubt, the most vocal people).

My opinion has been mostly that it really doesn't matter what we think; the courts - not opinion - will decide this election.

So my question, what will you do - what difference will it make - if the courts side with Gore and he actually does become the next U.S. President?

I just hope the Kyoto agreement gets signed. If Gore gets elected, then it will be, so I won't complain. At this point, it is my main concern, no matter who is elected.

The rest of the world is waiting...

edit: it's okay, guys. It's just something that concerns me. It's not the end of the world!

:p

Not worry about it! But to be honest, the guys got an almost insurmountable amount of problems and it does look logical to believe it will happen........tonight will not help him either. Oh well, either way, life goes on!

Isla, can you tell me which nations are to be bound by the Kyoto treaty and most importantly, can you tell me which nations will not?

Then tell me why?

You know whats funny that I heard? 6000 absentee ballots came into some county without ID numbers, 5000 were republican and 1000 were democrat. Republican supporters were let in to ILLEGALLY put the ID numbers on the ballot by looking them up in the council computers, but for some odd reason, if they felt like breaking the law, why didnt they fill in the democrat numbers too? (those got thrown out cuz they didnt fill them in) If they didnt break the law, the dems woulda won by 4500, if they did break the law and not just for the republicans, the dems woulda won by 500 or so, someones got some explainin to do...

you know that is funny, cause it's not true. Absentee ballot requests came in that were filled in over a ten day period because of the missing voter ID number.

That is not the point, nor does it matter. It(the point of the treaty in general) is simply something I am concerned about and it's something that I hope gets acted on, and I don't see what it matters to you. Heck, I would like something even better to be done! My opinion that the entire world needs to stop using the planet as a toxic toilet is simple, basic, and not up for discussion with you or anyone else who has an axe to grind. Of course, I should have known just mentioning it would bring you guys out of the woodwork, and that was my mistake. But remember, it's just an issue that concerns me. That does not need to concern YOU.

I am not one of the political debaters here, so back off.

;)

edit: lest I be misunderstood, I came into this thread because I thought it was a simple enough question, and my answer (in case i was not clear) is this: No matter WHO is in office, I will still be concerned with what I am concerned with. Did I get it right this time? ;)

Either candidate is a loss for the next 4 years. Where do we get these people??? I guess to get elected, what you really have to be, is a Sh!t salesman with a mouth full of samples. :Q

The american public is the only one to blame for our recent poor candidate choices. Unfortunately, I don't see a light at the end of this tunnel.

Which simply means that they fit perfectly among 99% of the other topics in this forum.

Ah, Russ, finally heard from you. You never did say what you would do IF Gore becomes President.

I should have said political threads are more pointless than the usual topics here.

You might want to look that story up and you'll find that what you heard isn't true.

As for this column's topic, nothing. Gore can't make a difference with a Republican house and senate.

If Gore wins, at least half of the military will probably quit. The latest slap in the face is the Democrats' aggressive move to - horror of horrors - disenfranchise the military in Florida. [Republican rant on] I don't get it. How come Democrats consider it such an anathema to "disenfranchise" stupid and/or illiterate people who can't follow five simple ballot instructions or even ask for help, but have no problems whatsoever writing five page how-to memos on how to disenfranchise members of the military? In fact, the next time I vote, I think I'll take in a red marker, make multiple marks on the punch card ballot, and then sue the Supervisor of Elections to force a human to read the card to determine my intent [/Republican rant off].

So, I'd consider moving to another country. Clinton had charm to veneer his lack of management skills. Gore obviously is lacking in that department, and I don't expect four years of Gore would be healthy for the country. Why not stay and advocate my beliefs? How can you have a discourse with a party (Democrats) that consists of people that don't even share the same language and vocabulary you do? Besides, half of Hollywood said they'd leave the country if Bush won, so isn't that an option for Bush supporters? That's actually another reason I hope Bush wins. If we're lucky, maybe Rosie O'Donnell and her ilk would move someplace as tolerant as they are - say, Iraq.

You probably tell something just jumped on my last raw nerve.

[/Republican rant off]
[/Republican rant off]

Darn, I can't turn if off! :)

You really think so? Sounds like a HUGE exaggeration to me.

Where would you go?

etech: You need to understand that a lot of people have the "We've got to do SOMETHING." attitude about various issues and they'll support the candidate that SAYS they do something about the environment/Social Security/guns or whatever they're concerned about. They don't examine the whole package or what the candidates positions are, they just yank the lever next to the best promise.

It's too bad that some people care, but only they only care so far and beyond that, they can get defensive. You can't do much to convince them directly, so it's best not to make too big a deal about it.

About the topic: Probably lose my job when Gore attacks the industry I work for.:(
