What will the next Xbox be called?

Nintendo and Sony are somewhat predictable in their namings, but I have no idea what Microsoft may do. IMHO, the "Xbox 360" was a shitty way to avoid calling their console the Xbox 2 out of an insecurity of being one number behind the PS3. So, anyone want to predict the name of Microsoft's next console?

Xbox 720?

Nintendo is predictable in their console names? NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii....?

Personally I enjoy the fact that Microsoft didn't just stick a version number on it.

Of course we are talking Microsoft, so I can't wait for the Xbox 2012!

Well...considering Microsoft decided to call their new OS Windows 7, I wouldn't be surprised if they call it the Xbox 3.

Considering MS went with "Xbox 360" due to not wanting to be perceived as lesser than the PlayStation 3 with an "Xbox 2", I very much doubt they're going to use a number at all for their next console.

Insecurity? It's been tradition for consoles to have unique names. NES, SNES, Famicom, N64, Gamecube, etc. Only Sony has been uncreative enough to stick with simple number up with each generation.

Consoles are released at minimum every 5 years (and i believe MS and Sony sees this console lasting about 10 years), so having a unique name is helpful with generating buzz (they'll probably keep the 'Xbox' with whatever name the next gen will have).

Yea but the Xbox is a much more established brand now.

They could call it the Xbox 4 if they use the Windows 7 numbering scheme, considering Win7 is actually 6.5 internally.

The original Xbox was Xbox 1.0
The 360 was Xbox 2.0
The NXE was Xbox 3.0
The next Xbox will be 4.0
